Not sure what right of tory will come up on the sheet and not checking because fuck em anyway. They'll either lose to hollobone or a shock upset will mean they'll lose to Wrighting instead.

With you on wanting to see UK troops deployed to Ukraine though, of course they do have to wait for orders before they are allowed to “lift a finger” so it’s not a matter of laziness.

Son of a friend is a former Para who went off go fight in Ukraine 2 years ago and is still there (still alive last I heard) he did a stint with the Kurds fighting ISIS too.

ISIS a direct byproduct of Endless War Against Muslims, so basically part of the same set of illegal invasions...

Are there british troops involved in active fighting in Ukraine?
 
Sunak was up here in Bishop Auckland today, so I missed a chance to call him a fucking rotter. Apparently he visited the walled garden at Bishop Castle, which seemed somehow appropriate - he cancelled a Q and A with the press which was supposed to take place today. According to one of those sites that applies the polls to specific constituencies, the Tories have a 1% chance of keeping BA (a red wall seat of course). You kind of wonder what Ratboy's strategy is, you'd think he'd visit places where they have at least a fighting chance of keeping the seat. Though maybe he's just given up and is going through the motions. Didn't see the leader debate where he apparently got a bit shouty, but otherwise he's just going to places and doing appearances just because that's that you do in elections.

They chose their battleground seats a while ago, hubristically even then, and have been sticking doggedly to the plan. It will cost them. Good.
 
Social media site X has taken action against a network smearing UK politicians, including Labour's Wes Streeting, with doctored clips - removing several accounts and posts.

It comes after a BBC investigation - part of its Undercover Voter project - revealed how a group of accounts had been creating and sharing the deepfake images ahead of the general election.

The accounts then posted misleading comments to bolster the impression the clips were real.

This is the first time X has responded to allegations I have raised with them in more than 12 months. I have contacted them more than a dozen times previously with no response.

Elon Musk bought the social media company, formerly known as Twitter, in 2022 and made various changes to the site.

This involved mass job losses, including in the social media site’s communications team.

At one point, emails to X's press office triggered an automatic reply featuring a poo emoji. Now, the automatic response says “Busy now, please check back later”.

An X spokesperson told the BBC: "X has in place a range of policies and features to protect the conversation surrounding elections.

"We will label content that violates our synthetic and manipulated media policy, and remove accounts engaged in platform manipulation or other serious violations of our rules."


The account sharing the fake video of Wes Streeting called him a "disgraceful human being"

While some of the fake clips and comments shared by this group of accounts on X were clearly absurd and satirical, others falsely portrayed candidates saying politically damaging things.

In the comments, the network of X users works to make them appear believable. The videos have racked up tens of thousands of views.

One post included a doctored video of Wes Streeting, the shadow health secretary, on the BBC's Politics Live show. As the presenter discusses politician Diane Abbott, the footage is made to sound as though Mr Streeting is saying "silly woman" under his breath - but he never said those words.

The clip was shared by a user called Men for Wes who, in the comments, expressed outrage at the "really nasty people" in the Labour Party. Other users swarmed in the comments to endorse the clip as real. Mr Streeting denounced the clip as fake.

He left the Army about a decade ago so he isn't there officially of course but according to his father he has apparently seen active combat against the Russians multiple times.

I love how the commentator draws a distinction between Tory councillors and 'real people' Sevenbins completely lacks any kind of empathy towards other people and the campaign is making it so obvious. Boris lacked any empathy as well of course but he was a good enough actor to pretend he did, Sevenbins isn't a good enough one to appear in Neighbours.
