Rugby World Cup 2023

Pretty happy with our game against Tonga, glad Bundee got recognised, also I was really impressed with some of the passing. I thought a couple of Ringrose’s were fantastic.

On the plus side too was the bench, they all performed well.

Ireland are looking pretty good, and I suppose we will know just how good that is next week. Don’t think much can be drawn from the South Africa game later.

England this evening, I’m most interested to see just how bad the pundits will be.

Dallaglio who just spouts any form of bollocks he can think of. Jonny Wilkinson, of the thousand yard stare, will tell us how much he hated rugby and offer an obscure psychological insight. Then there’s Sir Clive Tosspot who will contradict whatever he said last week while taking every opportunity to mention he won in 2003, but don’t mention the 2005 Lions (it’s written into his contract).

All three will be smug in the knowledge they have another four years of work lined up post 2023 due to the strength of this England team.

I find Woodentop a very accurate barometer of whatever happens to be the polar opposite of his prediction. Always hoping for him to write Wales off pre-match.

But yeah, that commentary team is stale as fuck. There are so many younger, retired players with a much more up-to-date grasp of the modern game plying the circuit these days it's baffling that these tired dinosaurs are still considered to be relevant.

He has even done some match commentary for BT, he’s not great at that either. Far better as a pundit I agree. Think he does a lot of presenting / speaking at dinners / corporate days

I still can't comprehend why they've spaced this thing out so much. NZ aren't playing again till the 29th Sep. Two weeks between matches? I get the players need rest but that's kind of insane.

You keep saying this so I assume you’re trying to get a debate going on this subject.

You’re clearly following the tournament and fixtures therefore you must be aware that with 5 teams in a pool, there will always be one team which can’t play that week.

Which leads me to wonder why you keep asking it when you already know the answer

They need to rethink the format. 2 months is far far too long.

No, I'm not really following the tournament much because you've got absurd games like the one currently going on. I'm only watching this because I'm hungover as fuck and there's nothing else on except blanket coverage of a rapey comedian.

2 months is far far too long.
Why? If it allows more teams to participate and ensures meaningful downtime/rest periods between games to avoid the type of farce that saw Japan having to play a fresh Scotland just 4 days after beating the Bokke a couple of tournaments ago then surely it's worthwhile and, as two sheds so rightly says, more tidy weekend viewing for those of us who give a shit.

Why is the co-commentator shouting? Is she on the sideline or something and can't hear?

She also just called one of the Fijians 'an absolute savage' That's right out of Prince Phillips playbook

Yeah. I picked that up, too. Very unfortunate choice of words.

Thought it was just me - he can’t put a coherent sentence together and never makes any sense - is he a bit thick? There are so many better pundits who cover Welsh rugby.
He's not just a "bit" thick!

Would love to see Fiji beat Aussies, but wouldn't be a great result for Wales.

I feel terrible but I keep having to adjust the volume when this co-commentator comes on. She sounds like she's running a marathon while commentating.
