I doubt that for at least part of the "raid" - you would think anyone with that level of training would not have let troops abseil, one-by-one, into a very angry and fully awake mob (which is what happens in the clip currently on the BBC).

The EU and UN opposed Turkeys actions, and the consequences of them still colour Turkeys EU accession talks to this day ( although the recent ballots etc showed the majority of Turkish Cypriots in favour of talks, and the majority of Greek Cypriots against).
My point is that it would not be out of charactor for the Turkish regime to carry actions of this kind out.
