Glastonbury 2014

i've never thought of glastonbury as anything other than a place to get drunk and listen to music. all that peace, love, unity bollocks is... well... bollocks

Only bought a ticket once, in 1989. Did 12 more after that, over (and under!) the fence, we tunnelled in  Otherwise, just bung security a score and you're in. Great days

All the performers have said DOLLY PARTON is the act the act they'd like to see. They're right!! Having seen her two weeks ago in Dublin, she was incredible!! - right up there with the greats like James Brown, Stevie Wonder, and Prince. One of the best investments i have ever made!!

Metallica will also BLOW THE HOUSE DOWN - saw them in 2009 - best live band i have ever seen! They start their concerts with the music from 'The Good the bad and the Ugly' sublime, BRILLIANT live band. They will blow peoples minds, guaranteed.

I've never been and each year watching it I resolve to go the following but never do. I need to get off my hole if I want to go - not getting younger like. I'd have to get a tipi or something though. I fucking couldn't take being in a damp muddy cold tent.

BBC showing Lily fucking Allen again on BBC2 having already shown her on BBC3 earlier. Jesus wept, as if there isn't anything else going on there.

the bbc footage makes me not want to bother tbh. if i didn't know there was a top festival round the edges i'd not be interested.

never watch the bbc coverage! You may as well just spread it out through the year and watch the same bands with better sound quality on Later With Igor (© Dubversion)

jsut remembered that last year you could watch a whole set start to finish on the website and they had over 100 sets up...that was good

There is something surreal about watching MIA ranting about how the BBC won't show her set because of the stop tamil deportation t-shirts being worn, via a BBC video feed :D I've no idea what they are showing on the traditional TV channels but I'm happy with this web coverage (red button too?) :D

This is the first year im gonna watch it. I usually just watch stuffs on youtube afterwards - Amy Winehouses gig in 2007 (when she was wearing the iconic green top) is one of my favourite EVER Glastonbury performances. And her stuffs with the Specials (tink dat was the same year...)

Glastonbury in 2000 was sublime - gorgeous sunshine and David Bowie - I went on a wander for two days and had a blast...pink champagne speed!!! - didnt sleep for three days (i was 21 though) :D

i did a glastonbury on pink base one year - presumably the same thing. i slept for no more than an hour a day and only ate two meals the whole time. it was great. but i was laid out for days when i got back, thought i was going mental, i was hallucinating pigs :( :D

1993-1995 were the years I wanted to be there. 1999-2002 were the years I actually went. Was good but I still wish I was there during the early 90s as it already felt like it was getting less alternative from 1997 when the BBC started covering it on TV.

It it just looks more and more mainstream every year like a Radio 1 big weekend. I know the action isn't anywhere around the actual main stages but still, it just doesn't appeal anymore.

Metallica ffs.

luxury!
we had to make do with a used match to lie on
but we were happy and we had each other

Matches? That's glamping in my book. We had to make fire using ley-lines and bong water. I had to sleep in a long-drop bog. The only food we had was crumbs foraged from Michael Eavis' beard.
