Glastonbury 2014

I thought that was the only thing? Once I was on the coach and got my ticket at Fleet services my coach ticket (or my tickets' "coach only" stipulation) wasn't checked (at the gate) iirc?

Yeah, I didn't have to show anything to go in but had to get my ticket on the coach.

The driver didn't know where to go and then tried to dump us at Shepton Mallet.

Happens a lot. Years ago I got the bus to the festival from Bristol, and the driver pulled in at the top of Glastonbury Town high street and announced "Here you are, Glastonbury!". Someone had to go and have a word, and we ended up collectively navigating him to the site by those of us who knew the way cheering when he went the right way and booing when he went the wrong way. Was quite a laugh, even if we did get there a fair few hours later than planned.

My mother has had no end of amusing coach trips to Glastonbury.... The winner was the journey from Bristol which took nine hours most of which was spent with a contingent from Glasgow who'd flown in to bristol airport who drank their weeks allowance of alcohol on the journey.
was that in 2009 ? we got caught up in that even although we were coming from London so should never have ended up west of Glastonbury Town

we reached the Podimore Roundabout {on the A303} and we should have turned North heading on the A37 even although I said take the ' last turn ' the driver turned into the A372 and then the Coach could not turn up any other roads so we ended up west of Glastonbury Town and there was a massive traffic jam but its all very weird because a crew coach that left one hour after us and ended up using the M4/M5 got there five hours before us so I suspect there had been two jams - all I know is it took us 14 hours from London.

its due to that where it was decided the crew coach would arrive on the Tuesday just so we don't get caught out again.

Looks like today was our day FunkyUK :)
its been a rough few months since original sale day. rarely a day goes by when someone doesn't say to me "looking forward to glasto Neil?" and i have to say / remind them i dont have tix for this year.... but thats changed now, so i can look forward again now. I've avoided all glasto media / message boards since T Day. That said, i'm not excited yet, cos i think my mind is still in a menlancholic state resigned to not being successful. hopefully the excitement will kick in shortly :)

Is there still any way to get a voluntary position there for this year? Stewarding etc?

You're probably a bit late, but you could try applying for stewarding. Oxfam are the main people but there's some others as such as Shelter who also provide stewards. If you do get a place you'll have to pay a deposit of the ticket price which you get back after the festival if you complete your shifts.

Bar work's not a goer as places have already been allocated I think.

Oxfam are full. So are Green Stewards.

I think Shelter are Full and WBC are finished recruiting.

You could try http://www.dcsiteservices.com/ (which is paid and I've heard ok things about working for them)

Gawd, my interwebs training is making my baulk at giving my NI number, passport number and my bank bloody details into an online form :D Plus references etc before it's even clear which festival I'd be applying for :hmm:

Nice one on the ticket front wiskey and FunkyUK :) -- glad some people at least got lucky :)

No joy for Shirl though? :(
I decided not to look at this thread before now because I admitted to myself last night that I really couldn't afford to go :(
I was afraid that if I came here earlier I'd get carried away and try to get one anyway

Well done to all who got resale tickets though :)

Ah, bad news on the low budget thing Shirl. Make sure you watch Dolly on TV though! :)

And btw, will you be at any other fests this summer? Still tickets available for the somewhat less pricey Bearded ;)

Thanks William.
We are doing Beatherder but Bearded is a bit early for us. We will only do a couple of others though because realistically money is tight and for us, on top of the usual costs, there's the cost of getting the dogs looked after and the cat. In the past the dog sitter cost £50 a night :( but I'm hoping to sort someone a bit cheaper this year.
