Come to Dragon Paolo! :)

Although I think I'm going back to Williams this year. It's just too much of a rush to try and get into Dragon, and all you crew peeps get there early! :p

William's also isn't quite as manic at night time, but of course you still get Shangri La / Arcadia until 6AM! :) But Dragon has some nice flat parts, and being small, it's easy to get in/out of the field.

BTW- As Paolo says, the tent thefts were all over, Dragon was done last year - and tent next to us got slashed.

Going to stick with the farm I think... One of the reasons is that I'm staying til Tuesday, so by Monday lunch I have to be in a secure bit, and can't be arsed with doing a relocate from one side to another.

Maybe next year! :)

One of the factors in the inflation is the national minimum wage, which applies to all crew these days. In the past all the volunteers cost the festival little or nothing except the ticket, now everybody doing a shift costs nmw plus all the costs associated with employing people. That alone must add a fair whack into each ticket.

There are people who are paid to work (I'm one of them), but there are still lots of people who volunteer in return for their ticket. Most of my crew are volunteers and do 6x4 hour shifts between the Tuesday beforehand and the Monday after, which at NMW roughly equates to the cost of their ticket. They also get a meal provided for each shift they do, which is good practice in volunteer management!

Relocating is way too much effort, especially on the Monday, I'd do the same! :)

Green on Red (or this one)

dunno about Eduardo & Antonio, but Green on Red did play twice, once very low down on the Pyramid stage, and once reasonably high up to the second stage.

And they were fucking great.

Do you mean there are teams where the min. Wage isn't paid to the organising charity?

Which ones?

Recently back from a very warm and sunny Sunrise Celebration  I'm crossing fingers that the perfect conditions there will be a premonition for more of the same later in the month. Tis definitely about to cool down signifiantly this weekend and next week with showers etc., so let's hope that's just a "getting it out of the way early enough" sorta thing ...

As paolo said, Deb me and him and one or two others in the Info Crew will be up at Farm crewcamping, we're sticking to that really cos we'll be onsite Monday to Monday. Deb and I got our tent turned over in Dragon the last evening (Sunday) last year -- nothing actually taken, but enough mess and violation for us to prefer somewhere securer this time.

This year will be the first time I haven't camped North of the railway line since 1995!

So all change, but that's not to say we won't be up and around Dragon and area anyway, visiting and exploring ..... :)

And the Cider Bus natch :D

Re Sunray's post, cheers for that, Deb's first Glastonbury was 1985**, she'll love to see that list!!

**Total mudbath, Glastonbury's first Mud Horrorshow -- didn't stop raining right through to the Sunday apparantly. Luckily for me that I went in 1984 and missed 1985!

I propose a Urban meet at the Cider bus on the Wednesday at 3pm-5pm?

This is around the time the shift changes over for Oxfam, so even if you are heading off to do a shift, can still attend for a swift 1/2 and people coming off shift will probably be up for a drink.

Sounds sensible.

Info changeover is different, but that should still work one way or another.

Not sure if I'll be at the Bus before 5 but will certainly be loitering thereabouts for most of the evening. 3 Weeks!

I've been thninking 'why are people having such difficulty with 3pm'.

I've just remembered that 3pm Wednesday is the 1st day its open. Oops. :D

Perhaps we should make it a 3pm on the Thursday? Then people will not be dragging their stuff across site.

Thursday sounds good. For those crewing, it will all be about which shifts we get, but those not working could make Thursday I'm sure. It'll all be workoutable :)

Yeah, 3pm til late would be good, cos i probably won't knock off til 7 or 8 each evening. Worthy FM, it's not a job, it's a way of life.

What happened to the old 'there'll be someone at the cider bus on the hour every hour from Wednesday to Sunday' rule of old? :D Glastonbury isn't as good as it used to be :p

There's urbs on site from when, Saturday?

Daily, 5pm, that should cover it :)

Bus doesn't turn up til the Tuesday though :p

We could just meet in the space where it's going to be and wait for it.

Structure, people need structure, esp if you don't know what everyone looks like.

Urban Glastonbury Thursday 3pm Cider Bus.

Oh yes indeed, I didn't mean to imply otherwise. But an awful lot of them are recruited as volunteers to an organisation, mostly charities, which is paid for their service. Oxfam for instance. Not all, there are still plenty of autonomous crews left and they doubtless all do things differently.

However, there's a legal and insurance based framework for everyone doing a shift, which includes the nmw legislation. My understanding is that the festival pays somebody a notional fee for each shift, plus entry ticket for each worker. Though, as volunteers, many individuals donate their pay.

Of course, this is Glastonbury we're talking about so there's exceptions to everything- one of the joys of the thing :) - but I think there's some underlying structure.

I'm thinking rather more of how pissed off my liver is going to be with me if I do a 3pm to midnight stint at the Cider Bus. I think 6 hours on duty will probably be more than enough. :p

Thursday evening I intend to be at Club Dada for the Folk Punk Ceilidh Hoe Down :D
