Glastonbury 2009

hmm, snuday looks anoyingly clashy, and saturday looks pretty quiet so far (which is handy for the just hanging around seeing what's happening around the place i suppose)

About this time last year, I made myself a promise to see some bands..
I think I saw about 5 in total.... This year I'm going for the double.

:D

Prodigy, Nick Cave, Status Quo (!)... They're coming in thick and fast now. Full reveal is Monday 10pm ish.

Quo?? :)

Kids have already said they are getting up at 3am NOOO

but we will defo be on the road EARLY and theyve checked repeatedly we will be meeting you! and Connors desperate to see Bradley again :)
Oh and Chloe got 14 A's last report so Ben has to Marry Lucy now apparently
so it's going to be a busy weekend then! Do Ben & Lucy know they have to get married?? :D
Tell Chloe well done too!
3 is everso early...

I hope I may scrape an acquaintance with you if you are camping on the family field.

I don't necessarily mean to camp in your pocket like, but as I am here without mr mania this year but WITH teenage girls, I would appreciate a little adult company sometimes!

Next to my pocket is just fine ;)

I don't mean that we should all hang around in a great Urban homogeneous mass all the time !

But 'twould be nice to have someone over the age of 16 to chill sometimes!

It didn't really work out that way, everyone goes & does whatever they want to do and take whichever kids happen to want to go & do that thing at that time, so you may find yourself without under 16's sometimes! The kids sort of seem to become shared for the weekend (if you want them to be...)

ETA : smiley cull!!!

snuggles up adjacent to mystery girl's pocket :)

You know I'm really beginning to get excited now.

I mean I was before, but now I'm absolutely humming with it! :D

and 'twould be good for daughter to meet some new people anyway - it looks like her mate may be dropping out.

i think we'll have our new lovely big bell tent by then, so we can use the van for cooking / hanging out / stuff like that, and sleep in a lovely tent free of anything but a bed. All helps with keeping my leg as clean as possible too.

Add to this a barbecue, table and chairs, bean bags and a small hifi and it'll be my most comfy Glastonbury yet, which will help soften the blow if the whole leg thing sees me stuck at camp a lot.

Oh I think I and just about every other Urbanite will want to come and 'nestle' with you :D

just for the benison of your company naturally,:D

aah, that takes me back to '86 when some mates turned up with their van, chairs, table, semi-pro camping cooker, stereo and tv (to watch the world cup on). We thought they were totally missing the point/spirit of the whole thng. but then stopped there whenever possible.

it certainly presents a logistical challenge :D

I'm sure some of the younger more flexible Urbs could rise to the challenge.:D

I had better scarper because a) Pie Eye might get cross

and b) must force darling son to revise for his Art Higher.

an old mate who worked in the theatre "borrowed" an entire set of Victorian parlour backdrops / flats plus some furniture from some old period drama and set up a proper parlour next to his tent

:D

do that these days and people would probably think you were an unlisted stage

and some skinny jeans and scarf wearing cunts would show up and ask to do a "guerilla gig" while their mate from the media studies course films it on their phone.

Anybody still pondering a suitable campsite for Glasto 2009? I’m going back to my spiritual home in Dragon/Williams after having my tent robbed & being spectacularly unimpressed by the behaviour of some of our neighbours in Pennards last year. I was a little bit worried I was going to be Norman No Mates but it seems that some of the people I camped with last year are similarly minded so we’re all going back home! :D

I'd be tempted to join you, but logistics means I've got to be in crew, so looks like it's the farm for me.

Its very likely that I shall be joining you, even if its a bit hilly just there. What time you gonna be arriving. I'm there on the Tuesday, so can pick my spot. A few tarps and a fire I reckon I can reserve some space.

Thanks mate. Hope to be in there first thing Wednesday but there's at least 4 tents so I guess we'll just head for wherever there is space.

We don't know where to camp. We were in Park Home Ground last year and there were loads of robberies and it was a bit shit there.

I think Dragon might be a bit far for poor Magic Sam to drag the trolley. :D

What kind of thing are you after? What didn't work for you with Park Home?

(btw I think the thefts were everywhere. Even Cockmill got done. My guess is there were a few groups, working their way round.)
