Glastonbury 2009

dunno, wasn't really at the forefront of me mind when she told us this morning (well, it was at the front of mine, but I didnt think it was tactful to mention it yet!). I doubt we could get the money back on my ticket (we did at least take out the insurance on hers) to it would be pissing two hundered quid up the wall......and she can go n stay at her folks', which would be better in some ways as they are in a bungalow

Do you mean there are teams where the min. Wage isn't paid to the organising charity?

Which ones?

Sorry Paolo - only just seen this.

I work on one of the stages and some of our crew (admin, artist hospitality, decor, etc) are volunteers but there's no charity that organises it. I guess the charities that benefit are the big three that the festival donates to.

PM me if you've any other queries :)

This will be Glastonbury number 5 for me and I'm very excited! My office banned me from checking the forecasts until June had started but MetCheck long range has been down for a few days now. Anyone know any others I can obsessively check even though they will be inaccurate until the day before? :)

I can deal with that forecast.... :)

I'm sure last year, we were getting excited about the weather in March... I reckon it's the early sale of the tickets has spread the excitement over a longer span...

I've just checked my calendar - I'll be on site in 16 DAYS! zomg!1!!1eleventyandting.
wooooooyea :D

Structure, people need structure, esp if you don't know what everyone looks like.
Yes definitely because LMHF & I sat there awhile last year playing 'guess the Urbanite crowd'. we didnt' know anybody and nobody knew us, so we ended up wandering away.

I came down a few times last year but had no idea who/where/what I was looking for, just ended up standing by the cider bus in the middle of a thousand other internet meets.

Wasn't just us then.

*plans A4 laminate of kittens and planes taking off*
Maybe a kitten ON a plane taking off... Hmm.

:D

Yep, that was me as well. Standing with a cider amongst a thousand people of the thousand meets.

This is my first time heading down to glasto. Any recommendations on food to bring? Think I'm going to buy a little stove. I know its fucking expensive down there but don't want to have to carry too much either. Also if I don't manage to get any speed in I will have to eat!

I got bored at work so I made this... (badly)

Off home now anyway, might come say hello again later... :)

I had another thought for a sign today too, just the words 'baby eating anarchists' above an arrow pointing down, held up high on a tent pole.

Second thoughts, we may attract more company than just urbans.

those instant risottos - stir in cheese or veg or whatever
chunky soups

I'm sure I'm not the only one that finds that no matter how much food I take to eat at the campsite, I still spend a absolute fortune on food due to the fact that I smoke a lot more weed there than I usually do

My memory of the food at Glasto is slightly tainted by the fact that everything I ate seemed to have a bit of mud on it.

I reckon I ate more mud than food.

having the van helps, but we tend to eat breakfast/lunch there - cookled, often- and splash out on a really nice dinner. Keeps food down to a tenner or so a day but you eat well

No matter how well intentioned I am, breathing country air makes me eat five times as much as I normally would and Glastonbury is specially organised so food is never far from your thoughts.

Fortunately its only on for a few days.

This year I am going to make more use of Nuts, who do the Oxfam area. Truly great veggie food.

Tinned mackerel in tomato sauce is great munchie food and keeps for ages. An apple a day keeps the vitamin C up and also helps de-fuzz your mouth after a night out. Topped off with a multi vitamin a day and perhaps a milk thistle tablet or two, and you're set for as much fun as you want.

i'm going to try and mirror my success of 2004, and not go for a poo the entire festival. i went from tuesday evening til monday afternoon

mind you, when i got home it was a proper one hand on each wall job
