Glastonbury 2008

A couple of years ago I met a 15yo on the train, she was meeting her dad there and didnt have a ticket. She got on the bus with me and they didnt ask for her ticket. I cant remember them asking for mine either, but that doesnt mean that they didnt iyswim

There are usually festie vehicles up and down the road pretty regular, you may be able to blag a ride if they dont let you on a bus.

Good luck, I hear fun is to be had!

I hope they're not due to get what we've got here at the mo! It's pouring in under the front door and down the chimbley

Weatherman of Walworth has texted me to say it's raining. Luckily he's sheltering in the real ale tent :)

it is indeed grim as fuck here, (which aint too far from site).
me and my littlun are sat indoors (all warm and smug) thinking of our friends huddled up in their damp tents :D

Emily Eavis is insisting that the atmosphere at the festival is the best for years and that's because some of the people who weren't "really Glastonbury" aren't there this year.

Yes, love.

It's always better when i'm not there....:)

I know this is probably a stupid question, but why don't they put it on a bit later in the summer than this? I've been four times and only one has been dry. Is it just tradition to have it so early in the summer?

It's absolute hell goin to bed in your tent covered in mud, waking up covered in dry mud, hearing the rain thump down outside, reaching outside for your wellies only to discover you were so hammered you left them standing upright in the rain, emptying them out, making your way at snails pace thru ankle high mud to the stinky bogs, waiting in the queue for 20 minutes, then sludging back to the tent to commence getting hammered again as theres nothing else you can be arsed doing in such conditions.

Ach. Tis a young man's game. I'm off to Latitude this year, altho i was pretty horrified to read that the Guardian reckons its the 'most family friendly' festival in the UK. Family friendly? :hmm:

Well.. i know im cynical, but they've done away with virtually everything else that was 'traditional' about it so I don't reckon it will be long before whoevers bankrolling it 'suggests' they move it to a more commerically viable timeslot..

Tune into Radio 1 at the mo..

Whiley's on from glasto. Sounds a bit muddy yeh.

I am going to pretend you didn't suggest I listened to that trout at Glasto on Radio One! I cannot think of anything more likley to make me want to rip my ears off and set fire to them.

Its my great regret that I didnt launch a clod of mud at the bnt when I saw her posing for photographers in a pool of mud one year..

Well. Dont know much about her tbh, but as far as i can tell any radio DJ that isnt Peel's body exhumed and propped up in front of a mic will be lambasted on urban.

Seems to be doin a decent job.

Metcheck is not looking too rosy

Reports from people on site seem pretty upbeat.

The issue as I see it is that the access roads and walkways are no bigger despite increased number of people attending. So if you have a path leading between stages that gets wet it is churned up much more and takes longer to recover.

People have told me that some of the new areas (open space up on the hills) has freed up more space though. Also told that Trash City is a real winner :)

Sad I am not there but comments by Eavis, the mud and the cost makes me feel a lot better about missing out.

Litter pickers are going to be busy removing a LOT of these from the fields apparently....

You not trolling with your positive Jo Whiley comments are you?

this REALLY fucking pisses me off  in fact, the litter/rubbish left behind there is just a fucking disgrace. Why the fuck can't people just tidy up after themselves rather than expect someone else to do it  The sight of the festi last year late at night was a fucking mess

Jo Whiley?... splutter

Well maybe its just me... but I first started to loathe her when she had a TV show in the late 90's where she'd get really interesting musicians on and then ask them the most banal and stupid questions and then cut them off in mid sentence. But generally I find her show and presenting style to be fake and grating - as she passes off the cruddy R1 playlist as her own brilliant musical taste rather than record company fed shite.. But I hate Radio One too. Anyway she's a typical BBC 40+ overpaid voice of youth:rolleyes: :mad:

she is a sycophant as well as the definition of bland with fuck all opinion on anything. She plays up to all her 'guests,' I hate presenters who play it safe and she always does. Worst of all she is SMUG. Someone fire her!
