Glastonbury 2008

Has everyone got their tickets now?

Ours haven't arrived and when I tracked them online, it said they were despatched on the 2nd June.....AARGH!

Panic starting to set in now...

Right , have just re-arranged delivery for Saturday, albeit through Royal Mail's remarkably non-reassuring automated voicemail service. Fingers crossed.

Like I was claiming that!

In the post of mine from yesterday, with the possibly transient good forecast for next week, the post that that you were objecting to originally, I was trying to emanate a few positive vibes ....

No guarentees were claimed ever ....

IM objecting to the endless stream of weather related drivel actually since none of it will change anything!

Nope! still waiting.
I rang glastonburys festival office this morning after seetickets tolod me that as far as they were concerned the event started friday and if I recieved my tickets on friday theyve fulfilled their side of things
Gl;astonbury office said thats categorically not the case and anyone who hasnt had their tickets sent by monday should be allowed to collect them at Gate A on weds

Look back through all the old threads and it will be the same every year. It wouldn't be Glastonbury build-up without endless weather updates and I can't see that changing. If you don't like the weather updates don't read them or just put Will on ignore til next week. :)

Thanks for this. Hopefully Glastonbury office will have the final call then....

Spose this is where I have to concede that printing your ugly mug on the ticket can have some benefits - otherwise I'd be worried that someone from the post office might get to dance the weekend away instead of me!

OR.

Just start a glasto weather thread. Everyone's happy.
People can nip in and check if they like. WoW can post as much stuff up as he likes without whingers... Job's a good 'un.

In fact, I'll do it now.

Why? This is the glastonbury thread, we don't need another one.

Several friends of mine are wheelchair users and their decision to attend will largely be dictated by the weather conditions - so the inclusion of weather posts are welcome (i forward on the links / info as they don't read U75)

And that concludes the case for the defence. I would, in this case, direct the jury to find the defendant not guilty of posting drivel. :)

okeydoke. i am slightly less excited today, which is a good thing, as i was on the road to exploding yesterday. i've had a look at my bank imbalance and it's a sorry old sight. bearing in mind that i don't need to budget for anything more intoxicating than a 25g pouch of scutters choice and will get one free meal a day, what would you say is the absolute bare minumum per diem budget a body could get by on and still have enough money for a cup of tiny tea and a flapjack for afternoon tea? i looked at what i thought to be a relevant thread on efestivals and they were all talking about the price of glowsticks?! i don't need a glowstick, i'm 33 years of age i'll have you know. :D

I reckon £10-20/day will do it nicely. If you're getting a free meal be sure to fill belly and pockets ;)

Also taking an emergency £50 tucked away in case the tent leaks and I have to do something like buy a new sleeping bag or complete change of clothes.

If you already get a meal, you will do well to spend more than 10 quid on anything but booze. Most filling food and drink can be had for cheap. If you get free meals, then the place you get those meals is usually a cheap place to buy more food.

I'm liking the fact that it hasn't sold out yet

One of my mates has just texted out of the blue saying he's just got himself a ticket from HMV. This is a man who went to Reading one year and vowed that he'd never go to another festival again because of all the tent burning etc.

I was going on about how great glastonbury was when we were mullered on saturday night, but I thought he'd just dismissed my drunken ramblings. It's really cool that he's coming :)

Get yourself round the Krishna tent and eat tasty nutritious vegetable/pulse based stodge for whatever you can afford to donate.... 3 great meals a day in there.

Always been suspicious of that, how much do they try to encourage you in their ways, or is it just a genuine thing they do for the good of humanity/free festival tickets?

You just have to put up all the chanting and bullshit for a few mins. No real pressure. The food's not great tho, but yeh. It's free.

It's a tenet of their faith to offer charity, basically. If you get drawn in it's a bonus

Always annoyed me that the HKs did free food at my university in London, why give charity to a group of students that are pretty much sorted for money (even if it does mean thinking about what you spend) in a city with such a large poverty problem...

======================

I am loving the weather updates, the geekyness is fun and the daily reading and dreaming of sunshine is heartbreaking. Thanks WoW for bringing me to jackone...

it's pissing down in the West Country :D

Just finished packing tabards for Oxfam, sending out the last few letters to stewards, bought two new tents today.

STILL no sign of our tickets. They've got to get us on site somehow if they want us to work there.

It's great that new people are buying tickets on a whim, how it should be. Bollocks to the ticket mania, we never needed it anyway

Mine arent here either.
I ended up ringing the festival office this morning.... Theyve said anyone who hasnt got one should be able to collect one from the box office when they arrive...

Yeah, like thats going to mean a swift, easy entry into the festival:rolleyes:

actually i think you are being unduly negative - the box office worked well last year and there's no reason it shouldn't again.

with kids in tow its likely to be an absolute bloody nightmare for me, having to wait to collect a ticket, aftera trek from (and then later) back to the car which will be parked (hopefully )on the opposite side of the festival so that I can unload it easily and set up in the family field...

and Id hoped to be going in at 8am... that, also is highly unlikely if my ticket doesnt arrive.

so no I dont think I am being unduly negative, its going to be a complete royal pain in the arse.

oh, well fair enough. nothing like making the best of a situation.

hopefully it wont pan out like that and they will arrive eh :)
