I thought I'd counteract the BBC's truthful but slightly overly negative images...

Any one got any from 2000? Even if I had a camera then, I'd not have got it out....

Just seen this

Did you read my post?

Yes, I was agreeing with you that smaller would be nicer! What was irrelevant about my response? It was a direct response to what you said, but all I was doing was trying to put a bit more of a positive angle on the bigger numbers.

The cider they sell, unfortunately isn't that great, I usually get a pint from the bar normal bar, which I'm now sells Gaymers cider which I quite like.

Really? Not having a go at all, just genuinely surprised that someone could not like proper burrow hill cider, especially their hot mulled goodness, and yet like Gaymers.

Horses for courses i guess.

I went for the first time in 2005, and by Saturday morning after a day of sun and warm overnight, the site was drying, by Sunay it was lush - was lush Sat too...last year was a pain cos it was like walknig thru CLAY, not mud, so everywhere you went was a hassle ,the constant rain kept even the most alive spirits down eventually...it had better be bloody sunny this year...

It will be. It has to be, if only to show those that whimped out what they're missing.

Gaymers is commercial fizz but compared to Strongbow, its worlds apart. Far too much artificial sweetener in Stronbow.

I like a decent still Cider, but they are often too dry for my tastes. Old rosie is a good one that comes to mind I like. I think its that don't like the variety of apples they use at the Burrows.

Ah, fair enough, i more of a medium to dry guy, so can see that. Old Rosie really is dangerous to my mind, like black rat and cheddar valley, it has a tendency to be 'an argument in a glass' if it gets into the wrong hands, much more easily than any other cider.

anyway, sorry, thread derail.

You mean from what you read on the official site?

I think it's probably just a consolidation of the two rental Tipi areas from 2007, into a single location. The 'owner' Tipis will be nearby too, and as William says, the Bimble Inn is heading up there.

The fence is shifting up the hill a bit, over in Pennards, to make a 'new' open space for people to sit and take in the view, as they already do around the stones.

But there's no extra people going, so I think the expansion this year can only be a good thing, no?

How do you know all this!!

*feels very ignorant* :(

Here's an interesting thing to note

Glastonbury 1989
Glastonbury 1995
Glastonbury 1999
Glastonbury 2000

All of these were nice weather festivals and all of them perhaps coincidentally have coincided with a La Nina and 2001 was the last time one formed

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Niña
http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/features/understanding/la_nina.shtml

A La Nina has formed in the pacific this year...

Could be nothing....

So nobodys got any nice pictures from Glastonbury 2000? It was well hot....

.... having a search about and I can't really find many pictures that are good for 2000....

Some of the weather experts (OK geeks) over on the forums at netweather.tv do think La Nina is significant for summer and in a positive way ...

I will be requesting one of them (who went to Glasto I think) that he repeats what he did last year in the runup and start a Glastonbury specific forecast, once we're into May.

His forecasts last year were painfully accurate .....

La Nina was last year going into this year, it is now weakening and will probibly have disapated by the middle of the year.

Infact it is so strong a la Nina I am gather data for a thread on it in the science forum.

According to the BBC '...they are most active in the winter months of the northern hemisphere'

let's hope that its sunny in new zealand, and that they stay true to their signature song, by always taking the weather with them....

ill get me coat

The position of the jet stream tends to be the most significant factor, when it is directly over Britain we tend to get all the heavy weather systems rolling right over us. That is what happened last summer. This years weather may be rather interersting we will see which way it goes.

There was no specific facility to do so but I'm sure you could do if you felt strongly enough about something. I believe the core workers go through some form of de-brief. Cheffy would be able to advise more.

Given the fact that these incidents were reported on message boards that were moderated by Infoman at the time you can be assured that he was very well aware of them. He was certainly informed of the incident Cheffy experienced at the time.

Yup - the info lot have an autumn meet up and feedback session. Things get passed up the chain from that. Security was definately brought up by myself at that time. TOS used to be a very helpful feedback mechanism but then for various reasons it got switched off.

How much the feedback gets listened to and acted on by the festival managemt is, of course, an entirely different matter...

I reckon the best way to get a big change is to write to ME himself, probably a 1 in a 1000 chance that the letter will strike a chord with him and he will make changes.

Banging an email off to Infoman is always worthwhile too.
