Glastonbury 2008

I had to wander off and find my sis during Leonard's set, when we came back he was doing Hallelujah. Absolutely fantastic stuff :)

Billy Bragg came marching past us near the acoustic stage last night. He was waving a Spanish flag and had a young lad behind him plaintively enquiring 'where are we going now dad?'

The dance village was fun, Jazz World usually had something interesting on and Trash City was awesome by night  I was patrolling the dance area with my team and we watched a load of people being taught Bollywood dance moves in the El Rhythmo tent. Fantastic :D

The Lounging Area next to the stones and even higher up had the best view of the site anywhere, even better than the one from by the farmhouse.

I had so much fun :D I'm really confused by criticism of the line up though, I pretty much constantly had something I wanted to see while I was off duty and didn't manage to get near seeing all of it. If you hate the bill then the evening entertainment in the theatre, circus and Trash City areas should compensate anyway.

His son was on stage with him for the last song, it was very sweet. :)

Trash City & Shangri La was fucking mental in the evenings. Absolutely rammed in there, but brilliant nonetheless.

I wanted to party hard in the evenings, but I had run out of energy, and was keeping myself clean, so couldn't hold out past 2am.

Did anyone catch the crazy act where a woman sprayed breast milk over the audience? I fancied the pants of her  There was a fun Irish band and some godawful band called Toy Toy after.

I was the same. Tried to stay out saturday night because I was quite hyper after Jay-Z but only managed til 2. I wanted to see the Mystery Jets but was getting really cold so had to go back to the tent.

agreed and agreed
and the lesson I learned from my first Glastonbury was realy if something is shite, go somewhere else or plan what you will see if you dont like something

Oh and dont, whatever you do let your phone leave your person, in case it winds up under a childs bum and you cant let your mates know where you are going because the screen is smashed up.... if it wasnt for that I think I'd have wandered more away from things I didnt like. I'm also a little gutted I didnt see sangri la and trash city at night but kids first ad all that, Im sure Ill get another chance

On the plus side Ive discovered a whole load of stuff I need to hear more of:)

oh and if all else fails buy a tall flag pole and flag.... pain to carry, essential for meeting children ( and adults) in a massive crowd

or for an easier solution, just stand near someone with a massive flag. dignity intact and still easy to find

problem with that is that kids dont know which flag you will be under if your phonme is broken because one of them sat on it:rolleyes::D

we did have plenty of people standing with us yellinh "Im under the wales flag with the twirly thing on the top" into their phones.... met some top people like that too:D

Crap if the flag wanders off and you don't though - we needed it for the kids, tbf. Adults could have scrubbed round it a bit more easily.

The flag was genius, and worked a treat.

As was the one that said 'Ellis Daddy is here'

Now THAT is what will change about next years flag...

I may also have some mention of urban on it too..... so we can collect urbs as we go eh?? theres room for at least 3 flags on that pole!!!!!!!

The kids have spent the afternoon on BBC I player spotting our flag, so far we are up to at least 10 sightings over the pyramid and other stages

standing by the cider bus and going "They might be urbs, oh and them, and I reckon them and ARRRGHHHHHH" wasnt great!:D:oops: Cider and the company we had were fab thougj, as was the sunshine:D A flag then would have done the bizzz in collecting up the urbs! I dontmind the dragging it round!!!

I liked the one which said "I slept with Chris Moyles" that we stood by on saturday( and sparked the flag idea):D:oops:

I thought about an Urban flag too, not til Saturday night though.

That guy that slept with Chris Moyles was everywhere - I've seen him at other festivals as well. Puts himself about a bit, doesn't he! :D

Im too tired for spot the flag right now, maybe tomorrow......

I can never make my mind up if flags are crap or not. Poll methinks.

They may be crap, but they're damn useful. LMHF did well with hers, although as I said before Im not sure we'd have gone to the effort without the kids being there. Well, not for long anyway! :D

It certainly seems to have been a vintage year... Still not going next year unless I get VIP backstage malarkey though... I just refuse to pay for anything like this anymore.

Me too. I've never paid to go to Glasto and I'm not going to start!

Wasn't Trash City fucking amazing? We're loafing there right now. My girlfriend, who had always hated the idea of the festival (any festival) has decided to stay on for tonight. It's been brilliant - just beyond words. I'll write a proper 'report' when I'm back home tomorrow... For now we're still recounting stories... So so good.

Me neither, but that's because I've been making a contribution.

The freeloading nobheads backstage can fuck off tbh

Yes, it was. Would have liked to have spent more time there, but limited walking due to ankles & all that..... by the time I got there on Saturday I was melting & I really really had to go change footwear. Then I couldn't really walk back again as well as do other stuff - a brief glimpse of many things had to suffice this weekend, unfortunately. :(

Oh come on, where's that Glastonbury spirit gone already??

Sort it out... I'm genuinely pleased it fucking rocked, for everyone.

Including you JTG.

So stop with the bitching... I've spent my entire adult life contributing physically, financially, and equipment-wise to these kind of events, so I've no guilt whatsoever over the bunk-ins ten years ago.

Seriously, JTG - Glasto 2008 was a good one.

By all accounts, one of the best.

So hold on to that good feeling and don't fuck it up for yourself trying to argue nonsense with me, okay?

Well, that was great. As always, goes past in the blink of an eye. Every year I take less pictures.

Trash city at night looked utterly amazing.

Oh and if anyone thinks that taking strong mushrooms on Monday morning is a good idea, I managed to end up on the train with all my stuff with no effort expended, clearly it's worth considering.

Got back last night. ^^^^

Spot on. Had my best Glasto in years.

Did trash city's new york bar on friday all night followed by sun up in small world stage. Just perfect.

Saturday chilled. circus folk music etc.

Sunday small world, Joan Baez, small world, last hour of the new york bar
followed by tent party after meeting new friends walking back to tent. Shrooms on the monday morn.

Peace and love to all:)

what a great time !! What a difference the weather makes , couldn`t believe Thursday night , shit not again but then everything turned better by the day . Difficult to pick out the highlights from such a great weekend because the fun you have is not always directly related to the quality of the music.
I was emabarrassed for Amy Winehouse and had to leave , I loved Candi Staton , Balkan Beatbox . Joan Armatrading was clearly having a good time and so were the crowd , went to see Yeahsayer who had switched slots with The Whip and both were excellent . Was dragged to see The Verve and wanted to hate them but found myself singing along , he maybe a twat but the boy can sing , the last number whatever it was , rocked bigstyle.

many many more that are already a haze.
