So, which of the Urbanites are planning to stay with Camp Urban?

Is there anyone else who is getting there on Thursday and is thinking about staying in Pennards? If I can't get into Camp Urban I may have to form a breakaway group ;)

My money has finally gone out....so I can stop fretting that I have not got a ticket.....seems that despite getting a email confirmation I still did not believe I was going....:)

yer i know how you feel, been worrying for two weeks. even though nothing conceivably could have gone wrong. but its come out now, so sorted.

Err How? 135,000 tickets sold in less than 2 hours. No touts. Hardly a shambles. And the issue regarding people's money not being taken has proved to be Nat West Banks fault for not receiving funds on behalf of GFL. I know See/Aloud haven't exactly covered themselves in glory in the past but as far as I can tell their side of the operation has been pretty seamless this time around.

Is that confirmed then, that Natwest were at fault? Do you know why a bunch of bankers would refuse to take money, it seems such an uncharacteristic way for them to behave.

My brain isn't big enough to calculate the amount of money that has not gone into GFLs account for the last couple of weeks, clearly many millions. Which means that there has been a very significant loss of interest. Who pays for that- do Water Aid, Greenpeace will get less, since I can't imagine Natwest putting their hands in their pockets.

Purely going on comments by Infoman on TOS and I get the impression he went out on a limb on this one because the mods were getting such a caning over the issue. Seems the explanation was Nat West's uncertainty over potential money laundering issues which kinda rings true under the tightening of financial regulations over the last couple of years but I guess we'll never fully get to the bottom of the story. What does seem totally apparant is that it wasn't a See Tickets issue.

cheers Tort.

I'm going out on a limb here to suggest that as the sale of tickets for Glastonbury festival was frontpage news and the income stream predictable in advance, this 'money laundering' excuse is feeble at best.

The question 'who pays' for this is quite real, because 15 or so million quid held in current accounts for a couple of weeks benefits only the banks and must have cost the festival (and thus the charities) many, many thousands of pounds in interest (how much interest, anyone care to guess?).

Is the appropriate word 'incompetent' or 'scam'?

I rather hope there's some financial journalists digging away at this one.

But not everyone of those tickets had the delay in payment being taken, at least some people on here had the money taken within a few days of the 1st.

Still, a fair few quid will have been lost.

I always thought it was illegal to take money for something over a month before you intended dispatching, but I'm probably wrong.

probly missed it earlier on the thread - but what's this 'money laundering' stuff? as it sounds like blatant bollocks

Under Financial Services Authority (FSA) regulations all organisations dealing in the financial industry have to have anti-money laundering procedures in place. Otherwise they risk enormous fines & sanctions. Anybody who works in the industry will confirm that we have compliance & beaurocracy red tape coming out of our ears & if anything triggers any suspiscion of dodgy dealing then it takes all manner of investigations & high level sign-offs to put things straight. So, it's blatantly feasible bolloks i.m.h.o. :)

well yes, thats all obvious, but how it relates to glastonbury tickets isnt.
Who knows what might trigger a block. You'd have to ask somebody who works for Nat West compliance.

i'd hope someone at glastocorps might ask that same question, and they'd then let the rest of us know (assuming it was down to money laundering questions - is that confirmed?)

As I said before, we'll probably never know. I can't imagine anybody at GFL making any further statements now that everybody's money has been debitted. If they want to take matters further with their bank over the lost interest then obviously that is entirely up to them & their legal/financial advisors.

Well, my moolah finally went out on Friday (the 13th).

Now we have to endure the delights of SMS "delivering" our tickets.

WoW, I have managed to sort out my Glasto timetable thanks to my mum, who will take Skimboy off my hands for as long as I need – but I still won't be getting there for Wednesday. I'll be driving up from Devon at the crack of dawn on Thursday, to arrive on site early morning, which means I'll be free for some pear 'n' pot action by lunchtime

Nice one :)

Yeah, right. I had dealings with the FSA. Those guys get informed of just about every financial transaction made in the UK, including Mortgages.

How do they catch the bad guys? Super clever software that watches for suspicious patterns and alerts the Authorities?

Nope.

Someone rings them up and tells them.

Yeah cos like, Glasto's fuckin teeming with money launderers innit. Scourge of th efestie I reckon.......

I'm confused...

I need to know what type of ID the peeps will need or not need, all it says on the website is this...

What ID do I need to get into the Festival?

• All tickets will be personalised with a full colour facial image submitted during the registration process and checks will be made at the gates. If you are clearly not the person whose face is printed on the ticket you will be denied entry. Please refer to the Registration Site for more information on facial images.

• Every ticket holder will be required to present their personalised ticket.

• Children aged 12 and under, and “Child” ticket holders, must be accompanied by the adult ticket holder.

does this mean that if you look like your pic you wont be asked for ID or is it a requirement to have ID as standard?

I don't fucking have any do I  all I've got is an NHS card and my birth certificate and a bank statement...

They'll make you stand in the corner of the car park by the main gate with a big sign around your neck saying WARNING - UNVERIFIED IDENTITY as an example to anybody thinking of not bringing combined biometric/photo id.
