I know **I** will regret for ever missing the ultra wild years between 1986 and 1993.
i dont remember it being that wild. After spending a few summers at stonehenge, pilton always seemed very civilised. 1990/91 ish was good though when the ravers and travellers took over. we partied hard from friday to monday and it was fookin grate.:D :D
I thought I saw Mr Eavis today in glastonbury town actually but it wasnt him. I thought the bloke should maybe be making a living as an impersonator.

:) And there's also the v positive aspect of a guaranteed huge urban turnout every year by the cider bus....

I shall most likely see some of you there next year then. I've got a few friends who work on the cider bus every year.

I've heard plenty of tales about the wildness of 1989 and 1990 especially, though ...

(there wasn't one in 1991!!)

I only made the 1984 Stonehenge, which was crazy n mad (by comparison to which Glasto 1984, quite small, was fairly tame) but after Stonehenge died a death a lot of the former Henge people headed down Pilton way with their vehicles and party happenings .... I'd have loved to have made it in the late 80s/early 90s!

Big life regret for me, that.

Will be nice to be there when it's a bit less packed though, even if the anarchic atmosphere is there no longer....

Yeah the space to move about without getting crushed aspect is a big bonus, some SERIOUS overcrowding at a few pinchpoints in 2000 .... one night, it took me SOOOO long to trek up from the Cider Bus to the Stone Circle, an endless crocodile of ultra-fucked people shuffling at just over zero mph uphill ...

There are still a few anarchic corners though, if you look for them ;)
Mind you, I suppose if you've missed it between 2002 and 2005, the contrast will be the greater for you ...

I know what you mean.
I would have liked to have been a bit older at stonehenge and would have loved to have seen the sex pistols but that would mean I'd be 50 now instead of 41.
Not much point regretting something you missed though is there?

Not exactly, and 1994-2005 has more than made up for my lost Glasto years. I'm content too that I made Stonehenge once, for the last one

But still, give me a years-reversal-machine and I'd be back there in mid June 1986, heading down Pilton way in a battered old ambulance, for the first of my 6** missed Glastos. :D

**1986, 1987 ; 1989, 1990 ; 1992, 1993 .... the years I missed :(

I'd do all the others since 1994 again, too ... and see some of the bands I missed! :p

Did I hear Dire Straits may be making an appearence?

Do you mean that Evis has us all guessing about a band that "hasn't played for 35 years"

It's not possible if it's Dire Straits...

Or do you have some inside info. If so...please tell :D

I was one of those who started going after the end of the Stoenehenge Free Festivals, I quite enjoyed some of them:)

I'm suffering festival withdrawal at the moment. Really wish i was at glastonbury right now :(

you'd be bloody cold and would have to sleep in the cowshed if you were

trust me, you're better off where you are

I mean, I wish it was glastonbury festival weekend and I was there

Maybe I'm just desperate for some weed...

you'd have to. nothing more embarassing than meeting yourself whilst fucked at a festival.

Bring it on, time machine!

I'm sure I've coped with a lot worse ... :p :D

I'd probably give 1998 a miss, actually ... ;)

I wouldn't, had one of the best "people" moments ever in '98 ... I WOULD waterproof the brand new tent we took though :D

on a tangent i got hold of a 1984 aerial photograph of the site the other day, the site is so small and all in different places. also got a 1993 one and comparing the two was fascinating.

I'd love to see that 1984 one, given that I was there! :)
