Glastonbury 2005

Is there going to be an easy way to spot Urbanites???

hmm good point, there will be quite a lot of peope round that cider bus on Wednesday and Thursday night.

There is an easy way though: get on that mailing list and phone one of us up when you get to the bar, or text 'my round!' to any one of the numbers. :D

At last, having had too much of lugging my stuff around at Glastonbury, I bought one of these (Well, similar, mine has a back and all)...

But, I decided those wheels were far too wimpy.

So, off to B and Q and the council tip plus gutting the axle from one of my bike wheels and ...

(shame the pic's gone)

:D

yes, that's my kitchen. Yes, it's a mess...

PS the trolley wasn't so mega as it tipped, bending the axle :p need stronger materials...

Is that a turqoise bra hanging off your sink?

I'll be there on Thursday night as well by the way. Listen out for a scouse accent... (not an uber scal accent, just a partial scally).

stop showing off

you're too old :p

*runs like fuck*

Apparantly so!

I got this from some Doris at the Beeb yesterday!

Hi Tort,

I work at the BBC on the Glastonbury coverage on BBC 2 AND 3. I have been point ed in your direction as a person who may be able to help.

I'm looking for seasoned Glastonbury campers. Ideally were looking for people in or around the age of 60. But lookign at your photo I think you may be a little younger??

We're looking for real charaters who have quirky stories and experiences to share - and of course they can't be camera shy. If your interested would you mind telling me a bit about your self? Or if you know of anyone that fits the bill if you could point me in the right direction.

Here is my direct e-mail address: ########### - if you are interested please contact me at this address.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Kind Regards,
#####

60 for fucks sake!!!

I have declined in case, in my cider enhanced state, I tell them exactly what I think of their coverage of the festival. :)

No, it's a J cloth ;) I only have one bra, and it's black...

:)

See you at the cider bus ...?

Can any urbanites I meet please keep repeating their name, or writing it on me or something, so I remember beyond my cider-enhanced state.

I'll be the one talking to a 60-year old bald bloke who isn't camera-shy... :)

PS: Anyone else deeply dissatisfied with the webcam this year? It doesn't show enough of the site and no sky, so you can't really see what the weather's doing! Bring back the old one on the roof of the cattleshed.

but then we won't have the obligatory "who was that I met three nights ago when it was dark and you weren't there aqua" conversation :p

And it's a photo from last night!

Perhaps the camera's been washed away in the torrential rain that's been bucketing it down all night...

Still, sunny this weekend :)

is the cider bus meet just randomish timewise ?

Not really. We expect to assemble at the Cider Bus from about 8 pm on Wednesday night (22nd June) and the same time the following night (Thursday 23rd).

We'll be somewhere on the other side of the track from the Bus. Call out 'Urban 75' in a loud voice** until someone answers ...there'll be lot of us to hear you ...

For best results, I advice at least 1 pint of Cider and/or at least 1 spliff, before attempting the Urban 75 callout ....

Are you on beesareonthewhatnow's mailing list?

and I'll send you the camp urban map/meetup details

in all fairness, you'dbe right to assume there'll be a fair few urbanites there quite a bit earlier too :D I intend to be :D

One Week To Go. Repeat. One Week To Go.
Time to make checklists, pack, unpack and repack bags, panic about ID etc.
If you haven't bought all your drugs yet, get on with it!
Argos will quickly sell out of cheap tents on the weekend - get down on a weekday.
Got your travel sorted? (Anyone else on the 9am coach from Victoria?)

Not long now!

Oooh, I just noticed that the burn on the back of my hand is the same shape as africa.

My local Argos have completely sold out of both drugs AND cheap tents. Disgraceful!

Giles..

Regarding travel, I am going to be heading down early Wednesday afternoon in a Transit minibus and its looking likely I will have at least 2, and possibly 4 seats spare.

Leaving from Kilburn, NW London. Coming back Monday, probably not very early.

PM me if interested.

Giles..

Argos sell drugs?? Are they listed in the catalogue!!! :p :D

Well, no, but .... I phoned my local Argos, and asked if they had any, and they said no. And its an "Argos Extra Superstore" as well. ;) ;)

But the coach takes absolutely AGES to get there! The train is so much quicker, only about 2 hours, compared to 3hr40 by coach! And the coach costs £35, compared to £19/£25 on the train.

I'm still tempted by the coach, since you get dropped off at the gate though. The bus from castle cary station to the site dropped us about 20-30 minutes walk away. That walk was a right pain!

That's the rub, see. I used to be a train person myself but was turned by the hassle free operation of the coach service. You put your bag in a vehicle, sit in a (reserved!) seat, doze off and wake up right at the festival door. No changing to shuttle buses or standing in train corridors. I can't imagine the shuttle bus dropping you anywhere but the main bus 'station' at the festival though, that's a raw deal you got last time.

Apologies if this has already been posted, but this is a quite useful guide to who's up against who - there are a few really annoying clashes.

http://www.clashfinder.org.uk/view.htm
Handy that :)

Shame about some of the clashes though. Still, I bet I can elicit a murder attempt from some of my mates by telling them I'm torn between seeing Elvis Costello and Babyshambles :D

Stig emailed me about an hour ago (I saw it 20 mins later) to announce that our tickets have been delivered to her!!!!

Everything's falling into place. All thats now needed is for 'Argos' to come good later on, and the good weather to be confirmed, and we're away!!!

:) :D :p
