Glastonbury 2005

Would love to go, as it's THE festival, but unfortunately I'm too much of a wuss to deal with all that liquid mud and feaces and farmers with scary upside-down heads. :(

Apart from anything, I'd probably get arrested for loitering within tent...

mine arrived yesterday and the delivery man asked had i been waiting in all day - it was about 4pm - nope because i work from home - but i didn't know they were being delivered yesterday anyway - he claimed an email should have been sent out with a date and time - still haven't got the email today .... all very strange

When I phoned to rearrange delivery yesterday, I was told they would be delivered to work today between 8am and 5pm. So I came in early and didn't go out for dinner.

I've just phoned to find out where they are and have been told it will be Friday. Maybe. Apparently, if the tickets are going to SK11 postcodes, they come from Stoke, and for SK10 they have to come from Manchester. So to get the tickets delivered quarter of a mile away from my house, they take 2 days to transfer them between depots.

Stories like this are a bit worrying ... we haven't had our 'missed delivery' card yet (may?? be at home tonight?) but I hope we don't have any problems of moose's kind ...

Fucking Id Card Bollocks

i'm not happy. i've been told in no uncertain terms that my ten-days-out-of-date passport is no good as ID. legally i could technically use it to get me in and out of the fucking country but not mr eavis' blessed farm. i'm totally opposed to ID cards but i grit me teeth, and asked the only person i know who could sign for me if they would assist me in handing money over for an easily forged corporate-backed ID and he fucking refused on moral grounds.

what pisses me off is that i can prove who i am in so many ways, but because this is a civil rather than a legal matter i can't stick to my guns. so, despite the fact that i have a GTC number and are therefore a teacher, and thus am worthy to sign for other people, i can't sign it myself.

so what do i do i wonder? i don't know any of the sort of people who can sign it apart from that one teacher. i suppose i could apply for a new passport, but i don't have that sort of money and there is no garuntee that the passport would be there in time for glastonbury.

i could just stand on ceremony and have dozens of different types of ID, and run the risk of being refused entry.

motherfucking bastards. stupid fucking ID card bollocks.

For some reason that is too mundane to go into here, I've had to apply for a Citizencard, and so far, it has been a painless process. I have a friend who has a ticket but can no longer go, so he is applying for one in his own name, but simply sending them a pic of someone else so they can use his ticket. Very easily forged imo.

If I were you, I'd take my passport anyway and just present it as if you didn't know it was out of date. Make sure you have some back up (bank cards, bills etc) just in case they pick up on it, but I'm willing to bet a fiver that it won't be an issue at all.

thats what i think. it's so easy to defraud this one that it becomes almost pointless except as an anti-touting measure. but i just don't like the idea that i could be refused entry after all this.

still, i expect with a passport, king's college ID, my teaching ID, etc then i should be ok.

:(

No constructive response to offer I fear .... sorry to hear about this .... :(

Did you not realise your passport was about to expire?? (not having a go, just curious ... )

William -
Check this out!
Might make you feel better about lack of card. You could always phone them, quoting your postcode, if you think you should have had something but haven't.

OK, thanks :) but Stig received an email (not sure whether from Seetickets or SMS though) on Monday (I think) saying the tickets were being sent out ...

Still, too early to really worry. I'll reserve that for the weather still :p :D

i thought it was gone later in the year, tbh. i don#t really use it muchinnit.

and seeing as i didn't get tickets the first time round and wouldn't have been able to afford tickets on the resale if i'd got a new passport then its a moot point sadly.

I can't imagine they would bother looking at the date. They just wanna see it's you.

But personally I'd get a new one, the small chance they won't let you in is not worth the risk IMO.

'Course they won't look at the date.

You know when you get there it ain't gonna matter - flash the picture and it'll be sweet.

Everything's gonna be cool - it's still Glastonbury, innit.

Certainly not worth getting stressed over.

mine too. but i can't afford a new passport right now. i can't really afford glastonbury, to be honest, but not going is incomprehensible.

Just had a bit of a scare.
Put my ref into seetickets tracker and it came up 'email doesn't match ref no.'! Phoned them up and they said that they'd been dispatched on Tuesday and signed for & delivered yesterday!
We live in a ground floor flat, round the back and it looks like the posty decided to deliver it to the other flats round the front (people who we only vaguely know) Thankfully someone had signed for it... would've been nice if they'd shoved a card through my door and told us that a neighbour had signed for it  But it's here now :D
Our new tent arrived yesterday too (they managed to stick a card through my door) :D

12 days 21 hours 45 mins 32 secs

and looking less and less likely as time goes on

heres hoping weather forecastrs are a fucking useless at their job :D

Don't worry about the weather too much. It's still too early to tell.

From Met Office monthly forecast:
A brief unsettled spell is likely in the south towards the end of the week, followed by much warmer and mostly dry weather in the second week. Temperatures are expected to be particularly high in southern and western districts. A further change is forecast for the second half of the month, although confidence is far from high as to developments.

Failing that...

Unfortunately, the weather's out of our hands. But, I'd rather be at Glastonbury than at home, come rain or shine. Even the mud can be fun at times (memories of wading through chocolate sauce :D )

Admittedly, we did have vehicle passes during 'the wet ones' which was nice

right

I've been trying SO FUCKING HARD not to count in sleeps but Tort made me

It's super hot in the South-West today :)

It will hold

I wish you were right, but you have no evidence for that, and all forecasts are (currently) contradicting you ....

Wishful thinking doesn't contradict reality you know ... :(

That Met Office one is (I think??) somewhat out of date now. When was it most recently updated?? More recent ones ARE (currently) predicting a turn for the worse next week or around the weekend before Glasto, I'm sorry and pissed off to say :(

Next week's updates to BBC, Met Office, Metcheck, WeatherOutlook etc. etc. now assume quite a lot of importance ...

FFS this ticket delivery!!!

If it wasn't for U75 I'd have never realised that a delivery had been and gone, on account of the calling card being invisible and the letter notifying me of it never turning up. So I track it and call the ticket people...... 3 days later I get through and they won't deliver it to my works because it's a hospital!!

What they scared of getting MRSA or summat!!!

Gah!!!
