Glastonbury 2005

sweet, just got a call back from seetickets to reorder my tickets, now i can stop worrying...and feeling stupid for entering the wrong details. I have to say from my point of view they did a good job this year, I was told by the person I spoke to that I had ordered my tickets at 9.03am, I was on the phone last year for 10 hours :mad: ...anyway I think its mighty nice of them to do callbacks as I just presumed theyll cancel them alogether. :D :D :D :D

You'll be alright mr steev I'm sure </supportive mode :D >

Will you be doing Beautiful Days also?? (tix for that on sale NOW).

I know you're up for Ashton Court.

:cool:

Just looking at the rumour mill on efests and have realised I know very little about 'popular music'...

Well I saw The White Stripes at Glasto before and they were pretty good but who are The Killers, Bloc Party, The Subways, Keane, Hayseed Dixie, and Kaiser Chiefs?

Fucked if I'm listening to that Australian midget whine on too - she ain't even good eye-candy :p

Looks like it's gonna be a 'catch some music in passing' type of year :D

Which, of course, is my favourite kind :)

I know jack shit about bands but we always have a great time 'going for a wander' and catching some bloke plunking at a guitar in a little tent somewhere. I didn't see anything on the main stages last year, I'm not into the crowds.

they are bands that rip off pretty much all the bands i saw at my first glastonbury!

except none of them sound like van morrison - thank fuck!

Have others actually had the ticket money debited from their bank accounts yet?

I have my confirmation, and I KNOW I put the card number etc in correctly, but as of this afternoon, a quick dial-in to my bank does not show the transaction. It does show other transactions from Sunday though.

Giles..

Might I just say:

Please be sunny this year!

agree as long as its not hideously hot too

warm and sunny AND DRY fine, HOT and sunny not funny at all unless you enjoy watching people struggle with the heat :mad:

^^ nah...

Hot and sunny!

Makes people move slower and means you can crash anywhere :)

tho' the dust does kick up a bit :D

Fair comment Newbie, It was the first time id ever had secure camping last year and although there were no toilet and shower queues and space to set tents up there was a distinct lack of atmosphere as most people were working shifts and sleeping at odd times (like at night). It was also right at the top of muddy lane and it took me ages to go and find my friends, but hey it was free! Im still interested in signing up for that glastourbanites thingy e-mail list when its out.

No queues maybe but there were distinct toilet/shower wars going on. Which crew had the right to use which facility, why there were compounds with their own showers within compounds that most passes couldn't get into anyway, and so on and on. bicker bicker whinge whinge with at least one "it's not fair" tantrum being bought off with a wristband blag..... :rolleyes: It's precisely places like that that I'd like to get rid of completely.

No, I havn't yet either. I spoke to someone from aloud though and they said not to worry, all my details are there, but it could take 3-5 days for them to take the payment.

I'd sooner have a mad heat wave than the weather last year!

You need to get yerself a tent with an entrance at the front and at the back for some ventilation.

No we don't want none of this ta very much

and how does that help me when sat in the middle of a field with no shade to be under?

I don't want cool, def not mud or rain I just don't want it scorching hot - like I said, unless you want to watch me and others in a LOT of discomfort and pain

Weather like Friday afternoon last year will do me. Although I did have to crawl to the 1 metre band if shade at the Pyramid stage during Groove Armada. Bastard space cakes, but at least I had the presence of mind to seek the shadow.

Richie says "Slip, Slap, Slop!"

Slip on a t'shirt, slap on a hat and slop on some sun block...

...wise words Mr Benaud, wise words indeed. :cool:

Wish I could refrain (for aqua's sake!) from posting about the better than evens chances of a heatwave this year ... purely on the grounds of probability -- we haven't had a full on late June one since 1995, except in the non Glasto year :mad: of 2001 ...

2003? Heatwave?

HA!! That was nothing compared to 1995 ....

Stig prefers temps to be sub 25C, aqua I know feels the same, moose I think too.

But my upper limit is around 32C :D :p

I do sympathise with anyone who finds extreme heat a problem, but this sympathy is exceeded massively by my pathologival want-to-kill irritation against idiots blithering about how they can 'enjoy it all equally whether it's sunny or muddy' .... 90% of people who talk like that were not there in 1997 and 1998 ....

Mud = shite :mad:

Sun = :cool: .... FACT!

Anyway, ignore all purported 'long term' forecasts til after Strawberry Fair. Anything before that is too long term to be reliable.

Oi! :mad: I quite like the mud. But I'd prefer dry, warmish but unsunny. I do burn so terribly in the slightest bit of sunlight, regardless of SPF :(
<remembers Friday last year with a shudder>
