Glastonbury 2005

I'm coming with at least a dozen people, probably more. Still working out who got tickets, and who is coming down in my bus.

I'm going with about 3 mates from home, and about 6-10 mates of theirs from uni. Don't think I'll be able to camp with urbanites this year, though if I get the chance I will :)

i will be going with mates, not sure if my old head could withstand the chemical and spiritual onslaught of actually camping with you, getting on a bit now!

I've just had a fucking email to say that they can't process my card and my order has been cancelled! What the fuck? The money is in the account - I'm in tears now and I can't get thru on the customer service line.

fuck fuck fuck

Don't panic, I got this the other day when booking for another festival. It turned out to be a random security check that some card issuers have to spot fraud through unusual spending patterns.

You should email them immediately, and keep trying the phone line until you get through.

I'll be very suprised if they don't re-confirm them for you.

Im sure I read on efests that they won't be excepting passports as ID.
Probably just cos they don't want everyone to lose them/get them nicked. I could be wrong though...

No!!! Whoever said on efestivals (and I'm there pretty frequently myself) that passports would not be accepted is, take it from me, talking complete bollocks.

I'd have contradicted that baseless statement if I'd seen it over there.

Don't just take it from me either -- thelittlechef (sometime Urbanite and a moderator on TOS -- The Official Glastonbury Site) has
confirmed on TOS and here that passports will be accepted as ID.

They are not being officially encouraged by the Festival organisers orr by the Police, for security reasons probably, which is why it doesn't explicitly say anywhere that passports will be allowed. But nowhere does it say either, that they will not be allowed, which is why I went to quite a lot of trouble at the beginning of March to establish that they would be :)

Felix -- keep on trying and persist!

When you originally booked, did you get a confirmation of booking screen on Aloud.com's site? If you did, and even better, if you kept that screen or printed it out, that may help. In any case, if you can prove that your account is in funds, then you'll end up being alright I'd say.

Perhaps when you ordered originally, you entered one vital digit or detail wrong??

Good luck!!

Not only did I get a confirmation screen but I have a confirmation email as well! I will keep on trying but the line is permanently busy :( :(

The "Citizens card" is NOT a trial run for national ID cards. They are a private but non-profit-making company with a little official backing who want to position themselves as the ONLY proof of age card for kids and young adults. Their cards normally cost 9 squid, but they are doing a free deal for Glasto ticketholders.

The scheme is largely backed by, and for the benefit of, businesses that need to be able to decide easily if someone's old enough to buy certain stuff, like booze, cigs, video games, solvents, knives, DVDs, etc etc.

Citizen Card's database would not be usable for the proposed national ID card scheme - its not secure enough

Giles

I'm aware it's not actually a Government sanctioned scheme, as you say it's private. The one statement of yours I don't necessarily think is reliable though, is the one at the end of your post that I've bolded. I think the suggestion that the Citizens Card database details would never, or could never, be used as a basis later on for national ID should not (IMO) be taken as a given.

(for a start Dub and editor aren't on there as I'm unsure of whether they've got tickets yet).

Dub's going -- on a backstage pass ;) -- he can confirm that himself.

Editor is working his contacts to attain another press pass (like last year's) -- at least I think that's what he's plotting ...

GOOD LUCK!!!! We'll all be right behind your effort to get it sorted.

Ok - finally got thru on the phone. Theres some problem with authorisation but the very nice young lady told me not to panic, that the tickets are still mine and I will be called in the next couple of days. She mentioned the 3 digit authorisation no. on the back of the card - but for the life of me I don't remember giving that info! Apparently they've been having this problem all day.

I feel a bit better now. :)

I finally managed to unpack the Glastonbury 2003 thread too, and now have it online :D

here it is :)

What a nostalgia trip, just to see what urban looked like pre-upgrade! :D

Hope I don't get a bollocking for it :)

edit: PS. It has my first ever post on it. And yes, it's as crap as most of the other thousand-and-odd I've done ...

If you want to read the whole thing it might make more sense to PM me and I'll give you a link to the zip file for it, then you can unzip it and read it on your PC at your own leisure. It is 23 megabtes fully unzipped...

No, neither do I - I was surprised when I realised it - when putting Mick's details in. Most unusual.

My God :D That was one of the first threads I contributed to on urban, and it was what made me decide to go to Glastonbury

It was already huuuuge by the time I came snooping but I read every bloody page of that thing, including the whole licence debacle; took a fucking age :D

Top dollar sir, bloody brilliant.

LOL at William's super accurate postcount breakdown. :D

cheers. it was painstakingly archived at the time, but have never managed to find enough free webspace to hold the 23 megabytes it takes up... until now :)

Started to read it. Got up to about page 5!!! Of 82!!!

More later, indeed ... :D

Yes Monkeygrinder's, my postcount was once a thing of awr. Now much eclipsed by ernesto and others ...

<plans to kidnap ernesto, force him down to Glastonbury, and fill him full of cider, weed and mushrooms :D >

You should still have it on your PC. I gave it to you, remember? :)

dear god plase don't!

the idea of ernie on mushrooms - either way round - is far too scary to contemplate....

I archived that thread using the old print thread/show all posts on one page function. That made a 6Meg MHTML doc or a 4Meg zipfile. No fancy icons or owt. Even so, how on earth did you make it 23Meg?

More to the point, that function doesn't exist any more, so I didn't archive the 2004 thread(s). Did anyone else?

I've got the 'how was it for you' thread for 2002 if anyone wants it. Only 300k zipped.

...52 Urbanites...

That's quite scary somehow..

Yay it'll be so cool to meet everyone!
(not that my paranoia has allowed me to consider myself as a definate attendee yet)

That makes 51 by my count (not including +1s).

I'm sure I've missed people out, spelt names wrong and probably offended someone's cat but just a quick note and I shall amend it accordingly.

See you all there, in around 86 days :)

Its pretty fucking outrageous that they in any mentioned the 3 digit number on the back of the card (known as CVV2) because the actual input screen NEVER ASKED FOR IT!

I print screened this at the time and checked back.

I was expecting to have to type this number in - most places ask for it now - but they didn't. So it seems OTT to turn you down for it. I'm sure it will be sorted in your favour.

Giles..

Of course, you've got a stall haven't you.

Ever so sorry, I just scanned through the threads from when tickets went on sale, will ammend it accordingly :)

Aw thanks! Free tatty anarchist rag to you if you find our stall and stand on your head shouting 'I am Lord Camomile!' :D
