you've clearly never been on a demo and seen what happens
One day I'm undercover police, infiltrating the terrifying revolutionary faction that is U75; and the next, I've never been on a demo.
Make your mind up, Ska!

John Honey's face is posted all over Twitter and I suspect that may have been instrumental in his arrest. Images include him quite clearly looting an 02 shop, a Lush shop and jumping on the bonnet of the BMW. Absolutely zero sympathy. Amazingly he is apparently only 25 years old:

A man who looted cosmetics chain Lush during riots in Hull has pleaded guilty to violent disorder, burglary and racially aggravated criminal damage.
John Honey, 25, admitted three charges of burglary at Lush, the O2 store and Shoezone in the city on 3 August.
He also pleaded guilty to the racially aggravated criminal damage of a BMW and damaging nine other cars.
Judge John Thackray KC, the recorder of Hull, says he hopes to be able to sentence Honey later today.
they played an anti-poll tax benefit at the haringey irish centre back in '90Although to further complicate matters, coppers (and in particular, undercover coppers) hate Lush
And an ANL benefit with Rage Against The Machine at Brixton Academy.they played an anti-poll tax benefit at the haringey irish centre back in '90

It was ace. Senser were good round then too. I did go to bar during Billy Bragg mind. Not the first time I've had to do that.well no one's perfect
Do you?Undercover cops don't always tell the truth, of course. Some even deny being undercover cops.
Is not the best way to stamp out wheelie-bin related crime to be tough on the tools of that crime: wheelie bins?I think we might have stumbled onto something here.
How does that work?it would be more difficult to put a cat in one.
Not if the Moon is in its first phase, and there is an "r" in the month. Then it is Tuesday.Wednesday unless there's been a bank holiday in the last fortnight.
I wonder if the 13-year-old girl in Aldershot was one of the ones that bald dude was trying to rile up.
(Lush are brilliant. It's a shame Miki is a TERF, or at least TERF-sympathetic, because her book is worth reading if you're a fan, although it is pretty grim in parts. She was sexually abused by her Nazi grandma. It certainly explains the lyrics of Kiss Chase. The soap shop can fuck off though, the smell makes me sick.)
We'll never know for sure.Do you?
Depends on what they've done.
Plenty of examples of rioting in 2011 that weren't self defence. Also poll tax. If you want to go back further, in Brixton and Toxteth too.
Throw rocks at cops; go to prison .... HOORAY!
I'm not keen on people being banged up but at least you are consistent.
I do disagree with what appears to be your view that lefties support all this.
My Lambeth labour council run by the Blairite now Starmerite side of party are in their official website celebrating whats now termed the Brixton Uprising of 81
Love Lambeth
Follow the poetry trail commemorating 1981's Brixton Uprising through public realm installations around the streets of ‘Poets’ Corner’.love.lambeth.gov.uk
An educational venture so that young people can learn about rioting.
And my right wing Labour council has made sure "lefties" don't remain as Cllrs.
As much as I think 81 riot was justified. I do think things now in distant past get romanticised.
I was there. People lost property/ shops were looted affecting local businesses. It wasn't all heroic rebellion.
It's why I prefer term riot. They are messy outpourings of anger. An uprising makes it sound organised with specific targets to attack. As though it's morally sweetness and light.
I also disagree with somehow sanitising violent disorder. If what your getting at is something like this yes I agree
I'm not one for violence myself. But can understand why it can happen. And think at times it's justified. As now it's mainstream to see 81 as justified. And that isn't a "lefty" thing.
I think historically and in present it's necessary to look at underlying reasons for riots. And , as has been said here by others , the similarities and differences between riots and differing motivations for those involved. Rather than knee jerk reaction.

Sentencing adjourned until Friday after Honey asked prison officer if he wanted his autograph as he is now famous. Judge asked for witness statements to be taken.
He may have added to his potential sentence.
One I'm aware of, Aldershot:Has anyone heard of any demos called for tomorrow?
Nobody tell him about Aktion T4.There was a decent sized anti racism protest in my town centre at the weekend. All very peaceful except for this arsehole who showed up making Nazi salutes. For some reason, the police decided not to arrest him and just ushered him away toward the market square, the hang out place for abusive junkies drinking tramp juice.

That made me laugh way more than it should haveI'm dating a woman who identifies as a wheelie bin.

Judge Robert Linford then rounded on Cann telling him that according to his police interview he discussed with them "about the better use of taxpayers' money and why people were having to pay to keep these people in this country after committing such heinous crimes.
Judge Linford then launched a stinging rebuke to Cann saying: "So let's look at how the taxpayer have been funding your activities over the last 38 years - let's see what you've cost the country: you've got 10 aliases, four fictitious birth dates, you're 51 years of age, you've been convicted of 170 offences, you been convicted of theft, arson, taking cars, handling stolen goods, obtaining by deception, burglary, dangerous driving and possessing bladed articles. In all over the years that you've been visiting the criminal justice system you've received sentences totalling 357 months in prison, many of them concurrent.
In other words, nearly 30 years. That Mr Cann is what you've been costing this country and you sit there in that interview and saw fit to be critical of others. You have no right whatever to say who should or should not be in this country."
