Far-right response to Southport Outrage And Ongoing Violent Disorder

It's pretty funny that the anti-hate marchers today eulogised by the Daily Mail and loads of centrist commentators are likely often exactly the same marchers who were apparently on the side of hate the last time they were on the streets.

Don't expect this dissonance to trouble them one tiny bit. They'll all have forgotten their 'opinions' from six months ago.

The heated discussion on here when it was first kicking off. Mind you, chief officers are politicians first and cops second, so if the list had not been a nonsense, numbers had been more evenly matched and there were pitched three-way battles across the country between fascists, counter protestors and riot police, Rowley might well have taken a different tone. But it’s still something to have an on-record police statement that public displays of solidarity with refugees put the far right back in its box.
How are the gritted teeth?

it wasn't a heated discussion, it was you getting your arse handed to you.

...i noticed SYL posted a thing saying "that list was fake and came from the state, it was never real, there was only one real action yesterday" followed by a video with a few people at it, which comes across as nothing else but desperate face-saving.....
And organisational complicity

It's so nice to see reports like this.

Far-right's rude awakening: Police dawn raid 'seriously violent' thugs from riots as Met chief hails 'show of unity from communities' that foiled threat chaos erupting on the streets amid fears of 100 marches unleashing chaos

Police have launched dawn raids targeting 'seriously violent' thugs who took part in riots as the crackdown on the far-right begins following last night's foiled chaos.

Sir Mark Rowley, the chief of the Metropolitan Police, said his force had smashed its way into the homes of the 'most violent' members of last weeks protests in Whitehall and branded them 'criminal thugs'.

The head of Britain's largest police force said it was 'nonsense' these people are patriots and hailed a 'show of unity from communities' which saw thousands of anti-racism demonstrators flood streets around the country to stop planned gatherings of the far-right.

This morning Sir Mark Rowley revealed that the fightback has already begun, with dawn raids being carried out in the capital to deal with those suspected of taking part in the riots. He told BBC Breakfast: 'These are criminals, they're thugs, they're no patriots.

'We've been out doing some dawn raids this morning, the people who were most violent in the Whitehall protest and violence last week.

'Yesterday and today it's going to be more than 20 people, about 70 per cent of them have got criminal backgrounds - we've got criminal damage, violence, weapons offences, football banning orders - these are criminal thugs.
'Any suggestion they're patriots or they've got a cause that they're protesting about is nonsense.'

I bet a lot more are suffering squeaky bum time, wondering if they will be next.

He told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: 'I'm really pleased with how it went. We put thousands of officers on the streets and I think the show of force from the police and frankly, the show of unity from communities together defeated the challenges that we've seen.

Thanks to bris for this amusing clip.

For a bit of background that's Leanne Hodgson who runs a removal company called Leanne's Removals here in Sunderland. She's a bit of a "character" who has been in bother before. She's now in custody awaiting her sentence for what she did on Friday during the riot.

some fucking genius analyses from sky here:

Far-right outnumbers anti-racist movement when it comes to social media posts and engagement

....

Data from social media monitoring tool Talkwalker shows that posts using anti-immigrant hashtags - #enoughisenough, #farrightthugsunite, or #TwoTier - spiked over the weekend on 3 August, when far-right riots spread across the UK.[/.quote]

Did you maybe consider trying actually searching #enoughisenough you absolute fucking plums?

Yeah, she came up on the thread, on the day of her arrest, but clip does show Northumbria police has a sense of humour, she's going to fucking hate that. :D

The most impressive and constructive responses I’ve seen have been from the community, so maybe it is time to be having a public discussion on how our communities are policed. Cos volunteers who care about their communities seem to be a doing a lot of that work themselves.
Yes, if this turns out to be a turning point, it will be entirely about the mass turn outs - about the relatively small numbers who went out and put themselves on the line over the last week and the massive numbers last night (and, I expect, at the weekend). There's no denying that the police have been in a direct battle with the fash, sustaining injuries, for sure. Equally, things could have got a lot uglier without them. But without the mass turnouts this would have carried on night after night with them getting bolder and bolder.. Plus it would have carried on with the fash claiming a victimhood, the 'voice of the people', two tier policing and the rest. With thousands out against them, all of that dribbles away.
