England Cricket 2022

Permanently excluding the minor counties from being able to rise through the ranks is a relic of the British class system. It demotivates the better minor counties. It creates complacency in the smaller first class sides and demoralises a significant percentage of supporters in these isles who aren’t born into the right class by geography.

Warwickshire have just lost so will probably go down. Next season, I will be cheering on Northants, Kent, Essex and Somerset. I hope as many of them as possible make it into the new first division. These are some of the counties the ECB clearly wishes didn't exist. Why they wish that, I really don't know.

As for the above post, why would English cricket want to compete with the IPL? The Blast was a very successful tournament on its own terms. The original T20 comp, let's remember - T20 was invented by and for the English counties.

Concentrating quality so that a tournament in the UK can showcase the best players available, playing the most competitive tournament in world cricket.

This series is so fucking weird. They're at it again right now after a few hours. On a pitch which is basically a slab of concrete. And a giant cycle powered washing machine on the boundary.

It's only t20 so it doesn't really matter, but I still don't get why Sam Curran is a regular in the England team. First it was the test team, now it's the white ball team. He's in there every game, delivering his uninspired medium pacers and his questionable batting. It can be hard to judge white ball stats, and he does at least have a good strike rate with the bat, but that's the only decent stat his has going for him. What am I missing?

He's always sold quickly in the IPL too. Just a steady hand really. Decent if not world-beating at both bowling and batting. He's quietly raking in the dosh by doing so.

I'm not even sure what are good stats for T20 players to be honest. His economy rate is just over 8, that seems OK for someone who does bowl in the last few overs when you can get absolutely murdered, but I don't know how it compares to the other candidates. And you absolutely do need all rounders in T20, you just can't have a long tail. Whether he's the best candidate though, I don't know tbh. Who else should be in?

In the last half hour, Gower's promoted the bicycle washing machine, a tea brand and now tooth paste for sensitive teeth. Oh and talked a little bit about the cricket.

designated ad man? Simon Doull normally fulfils that role. You need to have no shame to be a commentator in Asia.
