England Cricket 2022

Cracking morning so far, apart from having 2 portly characters of Steve Harmison and Darren Gough blocking my seat. I didnt ask them to move.

They could be on playing right now but no. Wait another 15 mins - for no good reason at all. Umpires are wankers

So. Crawley. Is this the last test of the summer? It's feasible that might 5 was also his last ever test innings.

Actually the lack of commentary on here is completely appropriate to what these two teams deserve.

And goodbye Zak. You missed that ball by a good 6 inches and frankly it's embarrassing.

Very shoddy indeed. And as for Zak. I'm sure even McCullum's legendary loyalty must have run out by now. I wasn't watching but apparently he even wasted a review on it?

Still, entertaining stuff

It was actually Pope who told him to review. Crawley didn't have a fucking clue what happened, what line the ball was on, where his legs and the stumps were etc.

So of course that also says something about Pope.

Lees's failures have been somewhat overlooked due to Crawley's haplessness.

Lees + Crawley < Root

This series was always going to be a case of two good seam attacks against two dodgy batting lineups. But bloody hell.

I think Stokes said it was about entertainment, but seems to have forgotten a rearguard action, an Atherton and Russell, is also entertainment, and more likely the entertainment a Test audience want to see over 4 or 5 days.

Some excellent bowling no doubt, but both teams lost a fair few wickets to attacking shots. It's difficult out there but not that difficult.

Still, the collapse at least ensures Crawley and Lees will get one final go this summer. If they fail, surely the pair of them are now unpickable.

So a two-day test then. Elgar out when he should have reviewed was a big booboo, SA are surely 100 light here.

And yeah, will be next to no play tomorrow, but I think even England will struggle to win it tonight. Maybe 15 overs before bad light takes them off.

One of the weird things about Crawley, all through this summer, is that he's constantly smiling that gormless grin - whether it be in the slips or sitting on the balcony after getting dismissed for single figures. What does he know that we dont? He seems completely comfortable. I'd be more than a little stressed about my job, in fact I would have been about 10 tests ago, but no, he just keeps grinning. Weird. Anyway, his last test innings is about to commence.

Remember when Atherton batted for 10 hours and personally faced almost 500 balls for 185 not out?

30 wickets within 774 balls in this match
