England Cricket 2022

I get your point but you can't avoid basic facts. Capitalism. And the skills you saw on show yesterday from both Bairstow and Boult were straight out of their IPL playbooks. It's big and brash but it's 1000x more genuine than the fucking Hundred that the outgoing head of the ECB dreamed up.

And in terms of size, the IPL has 8 franchises. The Blast has 16 or something?
The ipl has 10 franchises. The blast has none. Most clubs are member-owned.

Parkinson out, Jamie Overton in….

England's 14-player squad: Ben Stokes (capt), James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow, Stuart Broad, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Foakes (wkt), Jack Leach, Alex Lees, Craig Overton, Jamie Overton, Matthew Potts, Ollie Pope, Joe Root

An all seam attack at Headingly (to reinforce the batting and inject some variation in pace) or a last ditch attempt to boost Leach’s confidence, that he’s their man?

Joe Root's about as threatening as him. Now he's no longer captain get him bowling more. Or bring Liam Livingstone in, who was playing as a genuine allrounder in the IPL, bowling well and then bashing it to all parts.

Leach is a bit of a passenger.

It's ok. He bowls off-spin to left-handers and leg-spin to right-handers. Can't be easy to switch mid-over but he manages it. There's not a lot of guile there but he's proficient.

He was trusted enough to often complete his four over spells for his side in India. No idea what his red ball career is like though but he's a very good cricketer. Could be a good left-field choice. If baz is true to his word though he'll carry on with Leach.

It's quite bizarre that NZ have a spinner sitting on the sidelines in Ijaz Patel who in the last Test innings he played in took all 10 wickets, against India, and hasnt had any game time since. He must be wondering wtf he has to do. I'd be quite pleased with that return - only the 3rd player in the history of all Test cricket to do so. Poor dude.

He played at Lord's didn't he? May get another game at this rate as Conway is also positive

Still 10 overs left. Should get 450.

A team will top 500 in an odi some time soon, I think. Probably England, and probably against someone like the Netherlands.

Doesn't matter, but Morgan should have demoted himself here. Moeen/Livingstone a stronger bet with six overs left.

86 from 5 to get to 500. Not impossible.
