England Cricket 2021

3rd Test pitch given 'average' rating. Nothing to see here, move along now please. (4th Test pitch given the same rating).

One test and two t20s added to what was a derisory 2 tests and 3 t20s.

W.Indies seem to have found a couple of batsmen in late life. Mayers and Bonner are currently saving/outside chance of an improbable win a test at home against Sri Lanka. This is their 3rd test each. So far they've scored 356 and 346 runs in those three tests. Unfortunately for WI they aren't young but they'll be around to test/get tested by England in March.

India 336 so no chance again eh :(

but wait

27th over: England 175-1 (Stokes 33, Bairstow 82) England need 337 to win

Stokes played a blinder as did Johnny B but I was most impressed by Liam Livingstone who came in when it was looking shaky to take England over the line. Not bad for a debut ODI. Jason Roy is also looking v good, not just with the bat but as a fielder too.

England are still a fine odi unit who can chase down anything. But with their approach, they have always had and will always have days when they implode. Just got to accept that really.

As for India, they got the score they had planned to get, and it was nowhere near enough. They probably have to accept that that will happen as well with the old school platform building style they have.

Both teams lacked genuine pace today. The addition of Archer and Bumrah might have made batting a bit less easy.
