No, he is genuinely stupid on things like politics.
He's not got a rounded political education, which is not the same thing. Masses of people who aren't interested/involved in the everyday of politics are similar, it doesn't make them stupid and calling them so comes across as sneering elitism — which is itself bad politics. I don't like Musk, but he's very clearly not a stupid man, merely one whose political talk is rooted in (trying to) justify his experiences as a billionaire.
Tbh I wasn't really replying about Musk, but about the assumption that a lack of political savvy is the same thing as stupidity, which political folks of all stripes assume way too often.
After due deliberation on this matter, PD have issued a statement which confirms that chatting to randoms on the twitter when you have well over a million pounds in the bank is absolutely a little bit socialism.

Elon Musk has questioned the expertise of Thai rescue officials who turned down his offer of a submarine, despite their having organised the successful rescue of all 12 boys and their football coach from a flooded cave.
...
He said he would be leaving the mini submarine behind in Thailand “in case it may be useful in the future”.
this is making him look a bit of a mardy twat, fair does on him for offering up a suggestion but when they said no thanks he should have just acepted the response gracefully.Bit like his submarine for the thai boys: Elon Musk queries expertise of Thai cave rescue officials
He's full-on lost it today. Lucky he's got deep pockets because this is wildly libellous

and they proved to be right up to it, in planning and execution both.
It's absolutely in character for tech bro manchildren who are surrounded by cronies and wannabies who reinforce that they're wealth creators and masters of the universe. It's just that they tend to have some level of filter that stops their tantrums coming through to the rest of us.
Also, the previous generation usually had a peer at the company who had sufficient stature to reign in the more megalomaniac tendencies: Gates had Paul Allen, Jobs had Woz, Sergey and Larry at Google. Musk doesn't have anyone like that, neither do Zuckerberg or Bezos I think.
He'll go bust before he has to pay that out.he's been losing it for a while, but that is properly mental. I look forward to the libel payout
Unsworth told journalists at the cave site, where a clean-up operation is under way, the remarks about him were an attack on the entire rescue crew.
“I believe he’s called me a paedophile,” he said. “I think people realise what sort of guy [Musk] is.”
Asked if he would consider taking legal action against Musk, he told reporters: “Yes, it’s not finished.”
