Asylum seekers forced to wear coloured wristbands

Part of making as much money as possible is buying paint in bulk. There are houses round where I live that are easily-identifiable as owned by a particular landlord who likes the colour Racing Green. No refugees live at those properties, and if any of the tenants decided to repaint their door without permission, the landlord would no doubt paint it back to assert their authority. Money and power are the same for these types of people.

Of course, now that it has become clear that the red doors are functioning to identify people, the council should step in and force the landlord to vary the paint work.
Landlords who haven't provided their tenants with an unpaintable UPVC door are the first against the wall;)

Well I'd say they were in a minority. Landlords are, in my experience, in the business of building mini-fiefdoms. Do anything without their say at your peril. This applies especially to landlords that own big portfolios of property.
What do you consider a " big portfolio"
?

I know its probably not pertinent to the thread but I can never forget the account from a member of an SS unit operating the gas vans they used to do, mobile 'euthenasia' vans that killed people with the exhaust fumes piped into the back of the van where the victims were. 'Let us out kind germans, let us out'. Thats what the guy reported hearing as they hammered on the side of the van. Stateless people suffer badly, especially when thrown on the dubious mercy of states who make a political living out of demonising the other.

Imagine if the state was feeding and housing asylum seekers, you know, back like it used to be before anything that moved was privatised. I can't help feeling things might be a bit different.

I really don't like what has happened, it sounds punitive, but why has the Guardian made it the front page article, then not mentioned at all another just as topical/important refugee related story, the storming of the ferry in Calais? Unemployed claimants are now told how to dress, how to think, how to speak, along with sick and disabled people they are sanctioned for being five minutes, late, not saying the right thing, hundreds have killed themselves, many hundreds of thousands of people are now using food banks, why isn't all this a front page story as well?

You know why. The guardian is a neo liberalist shil rag, staffed by self regarding "dinner party lefty" Oxbridge wankers.

Because none of that is 'news'.

because fabians couldn't give a tuppeny fuck about poor people and as soon as 'fugees are once again absorbed into societies that do give a shit they'll run articles about that too

No landlord would actively paint a whole bunch of doors to deliberately identify the tenants as asylum seekers. What would the motivation be?

Fair point. Why would landlords invite potential criminal damage to their properties.

The Home Office began an audit after the report found asylum seekers claimed they had been targeted with dog excrement, eggs, stones and a National Front symbol on their doors.
