Al Qaeda a myth says Russian

Thanks for the words raisin!

But as for nino, he's lucky i spend any time at all over him. His world views are often sound, but he's not a character that is particularly nice, and i simply called him over it.

And maybe you know by now that no-one can tear me apart... ;)

I'd always spend time with those whose views i disagree with, yet remain polite, over and above those that get personal. So, i think i'll take your advice and not bother engaging with the man any more. I do hope that nino is not too disappointed to hear this tragic news...

Nicely narrativised fela. It comes as no surprise that you have avoided the issues that I have mentioned.

I'm not "particularly nice"? That's good, but you only say that because I called you on your blanket accusation of all Briton of being complicit in Blair's project. I'll ask you again: would you be so quick to accuse all Americans of being complicit in the Iraq war?

And no, fela, you are not always polite either, so stop pretending that you are morally superior to the rest of us, it just doesn't wash.

I can send you my ignore list but that would be telling. Ed you might as well let it go because Im not going to mention their names publicly.

Why not? Why bring up the subject of bushbots and 'moral hypocrisy' if you haven't the courage or ability to back up your own assertions?

Presumably because he/she knows any list would prove inaccurate. I was once listed as an American bushbot when someone else thought they had some insight.

Okay:

I'll deal with the issues i wish to thank you. Just like you do.

I said the bit about you not being nice due to what you write in reply to various posters on here. Then one time i got in your firing line too. As for me saying it coz you called me on something, that is preposterous, and you really ought to disavail yourself of this notion.

I never accused all britons of being complicit. I said they were all to be responsible for the actions of britain as a whole, but not on an individual level. I'm not going to go into it again on this thread, but i say the same thing about americans. Despite me clearly explaining myself, you continue to misrepresent me on this topic.

I am always polite unless goaded into reactions, and even then i generally manage to remain polite for quite sometime.

This does not make me morally superior, it just means it's who i am. Who you are is up to you, it is you that rabbits on about moral superiority, leading me to suspect it plays a bigger part in your life than it does mine.

I am a nobody, a dot on the landscape of time. I am no better or no worse than anyone else, king or beggar, nino or urban75 editor. That is my philosophy in life, my only one.

Alright?

No, you think i can't see it mate. I know what i said, and i stand by it, but you have misrepresented it here.

Be polite and i'll continue to engage with you, carry on with your personal stuff that is often just plain wrong anyway, and i'll get outta your hair.

Still on the moral high ground fela? You seem to regard this an unprovoked personal attack, when I have already told you why I did what I did...but I did not attack you, you are being rather dramatic - as always - I merely questioned the rationale behind your accusations, to which you responded with outrage. In fact you have yet to deal with that point.

I've misrepresented nothing (that's your way of ducking issues btw and I've seen it plenty of times before). Next you'll be telling me that I'm "attacking you" because "you have different opinions".

This is an excellent example of your patronisation of others

Be polite and i'll continue to engage with you,

I'd rather you didn't bother to engage me, since any discussion is likely to end with you pontificating or patronising me.

On what basis have you decided it's about 'courage' or 'ability'??

I'd guess it's down to your own personal filter through which you gain your perceptions in life, and i'd suggest you quit putting your own values onto other posters, as if they're some kind of taken default.

Ignore me then. Why do you spend time with folk you think have put themselves above you?

Alright?

I find this amusing and it's as if to say "I can't be bothered to explore the reasons why you have responded in the way you have" you would rather accept the superficial over the substantive.

I said the bit about you not being nice due to what you write in reply to various posters on here. Then one time i got in your firing line too. As for me saying it coz you called me on something, that is preposterous, and you really ought to disavail yourself of this notion.

You really think yourself morally superior to the rest of us, don't you?

You are lying: you did, whether or not the word "complicity" was used it amounts to pretty much the same thing. You made a blanket judgement based on what precisely?

You slip and you slide. At least with me, what you see is what you get. In your case I'm never sure; one week you may be providing mears with ammo to use against us, the next week you will have shifted position.

This does not make me morally superior, it just means it's who i am. Who you are is up to you, it is you that rabbits on about moral superiority, leading me to suspect it plays a bigger part in your life than it does mine.

Yeah, right.

Then why allude to them in the first place?

But such is my concern that we have bushbots running all over the place, I really think you should have the courage of your convictions and back up your claims.

That's good to hear. But who's left?
<devil's advocate>
Why is this such an issue? If the comment was that there were left/right/centre wing people on this board, would you ask for a list of them?
Just seems like a waste of bandwidth to turn what was an intermittently interesting thread into an argument about the type of people that frequent the board.

If there's 'Bushbots' running around these boards hellbent on disrupting debate and furthering Bush's agenda, I'd like to know who they are and take whatever action is necessary.

So I'm asking a poster claiming to know their identity to tell me and thus (potentially) ease the moderator's lot.

Seems reasonable to me...

Perhaps a private message would be better than posting a list of names publicly?

Then maybe you should ask for them in pm? I have messaged you about one poster in the past, no action taken there! So I now put them on ignore. And perhaps I shouldn't have used the word bushbot - troll is more accurate.

Yes, it's just not on to ask someone to release names that someone doesn't like. Why stir trouble editor? And surely you have a vague idea of what's going on on your own boards.

In fact you told me that day to deal with it myself to ease "the moderator's lot"...

Wouldn't it just be better if Raisin hadn't made such an allegation in the first place? It's seagull posting if you ask me - if you're not able or unwilling to back your viewpoint up then why make the claim in the first place? It's a snide way of doing things imo...

Pickman's model said:
i doubt it - seagull last posted in january - profile

By seagull, I mean it's the action of a poster who thinks they can score a cheap point on a bulletin by excreting' a quick slur on one party. The 'seagull' poster then 'flies' away, refusing to engage or back up their viewpoint. The hope is that they've made some shit stick, regardless of the lack of evidence put forward - it's a cowardly way to hold a debate imo.

Anyway, Mr Pedantic(k), that's your lot...

There are one or two posters whose presence on these boards I'm not too happy with, I'm sure that's the same with everyone. I'm not going to name them though, that would be out of order. That doesn't mean I must pretend I think everything's perfect!

perhaps you'd better change your metaphor cos if seagull sees it there'll be trouble.

sounds like you've had bad experiences at the seaside! :D
