Who will win the 2024 US election?

Who will win?

Trump is basically allowed to do what he wants, the courts and media agree on this
Aye, imagine if he was able to get an amendment to the constitution passed which allowed more than 2 terms - that would also mean a future Democratic candidate could do the same - can't see the Repubs wanting that possibility.

Well, the precise choice of words is not mine. It’s the overall sentiment and response to the sheer stupidity of people who appear to be wilfully blind and amoral.

Who in their right mind would want a self-serving, lying rapist who cannot even string a coherent sentence togather to lead their country?
I agree with the sentiments about deportation and women’s rights. But the first sentence is literally racist. Which is a problem.

I’m not blaming you for the words, btw.

Trump, Farage et al have precisely zero interest in the people who elected them.

You only need to ask the people of Clacton… their MP spends more time sucking Trump’s flabby old sphincter than he does in his own constituency.

Trump and Farage are the symptoms. The cancer is elite liberalism and the neo liberal economic, political and cultural order of the last 45 years.

Do you really imagine that Trump will reduce the cost of toothpaste? 😂

That sack of corrupt, useless shite doesn’t give a toss about the cost of anything.

He is only interested in power and money - and only for anyone named Trump. Everyone else can go f*uck themselves, now they’ve done what he needed them to do.
Oh I can't be bothered tbh.

That is correct. And that is why large parts of Europe are electing right populists. it explains why Reform are polling 20% here.

People aren't stupid. They know they are poor and getting poorer. They know the parties that they have voted for their whole lives offer no answers.

the I'm getting poorer and it cannot be my fault so let's find an easy scrape goat it must the the others. ( be that liberals or immigrants) ..

putting you faith in a billionaire to give you money is fucking stupid and trump won because of some of the oldest tricks in politics

Well, I happen to be right about this. Nothing will change for the better for these people under Trump.

Trump is a billionaire who shits in a bloody golden toilet, FFS.

What possible notion does he have of the reality of the lives of America's working class, unemployed and homeless, far less intend to do anything about it?

Do you think it’s peoples fault that they are getting poorer?

Again. Trump is the symptom.

Simple psychology.

If you've tried something, and it hasn't worked, you've got two choices: try it again, knowing it won't work, or trying something else which, however unlikely, might do.

Or, just lash out.

Now, I can understand why some middle aged white bloke in Wherethefuck, Nebraska might vote for Trump on economic grounds, given the above - but why anyone from any of the myriad other groups in the US who he openly slags off would either vote for him, or not vote for an option that was by several country miles not as bad, just defies description.

You'd think 'well, Harris isn't going to make me any richer, but at least she's not going to put me and my family in a prison camp...' would be a reasonable place to start making your voting decision, but apparently not.

If Putin takes Ukraine and probably a chunk of Moldova, and has Chinese economic backing and a friendly US going out of their way to cause divisions in Europe by backing far right parties and giving money and political backing to the likes of Orban's Hungary, it won't take him long to gather up a force to conquer a country like Latvia with 1/25th of Ukraine's population and not far off 1/10th the size.
Putin already has part of Moldova with Transnistria and has no desire to occupy the entire Ukraine, worst case scenario probably like this linguistic breakdown: 1730889023538.png

Have you started planning for how we are going to burn down the White House this time round?

voting for right wing populists is not helping and will only hinder the them in future ..

The same would be true if they had voted for Harris and the elite narrating liberals
but then again those who will not listen need to learn the hard way

In view of some of the comments on this thread that’s very apt.
watching the "leopards have eaten my face party" is going to be a least a bright point of the next few years

Erm, yeah..

ah look I'll chill out but not happy this morning with the situation that majority of a population of 350 million people came around to the idea "he might be a nazi" but at least the trains will run on time

time to engage kiss my ass for a day or so

*shakes fist at sky

This was a choice between something that isn't working for you and something that didn't work for you either, mind you. Trump lost because he fucked up the pandemic response. Harris has lost, perhaps, because she and Biden fucked up the post-pandemic response (I'll be interested to see numbers from certain groups - Labour lost votes, if not seats, because of Gaza, and has Harris also suffered significantly for the same reason?).

But yes, this election does fit traditional patterns in which the challenger doesn't win so much as the incumbent loses. The incumbent has an advantage unless the economy is going badly.

So, those swing states so far, and number of electoral votes-

  • GeorgiaTrump GAIN - 16
  • North Carolina – Trump win - 16
  • PennsylvaniaTrump GAIN - 19
  • Michigan – 82% counted - Trump 52.6% - Harris 45.6% - 15
  • Nevada – 93% counted - Trump 51.4% - Harris 46.9% - 6
  • Wisconsin – 95% counted - Trump 50.9% - Harris 47.4% - 10
  • Arizona – 55% counted - Trump 50.5% - Harris 48.6% - 11
NBC/Sky are still saying those last four are too close to call, but well. 🤷‍♂️

Wisconsin has gone to Trump, that takes him to a winning 275 electoral votes.

ETA - Forgot to mention, that's another GAIN of 10 seats.

More Americanophobia than racism, I've had it since I was a teenager as if I'd been an American I would have ended up in Vietnam either killing or being killed followed by witnessing all their regime changes, coups, promotion of neo fascism, Gladio/Stay Behind, P2 Lodge, terrorism, war crimes, crimes against humanity, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, Gaza, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Palestine.

My loathing runs deep.
