What's in your glass?

Ran out of coffee this morning :(
So instead I'm drinking an *evil* mix of 1/2 damiana and 1/2 mate :)
The damiana's sweetness balances the bitterness of the mate very well.

Day off today, so opened a trial bottle of Tesco's latest half price (£5) "Chateauneuf du Pape" sound-alike ...

This one is called "La Chasse" Cotes du Rhone Réserve ... won a prize or summat .

Very well-rounded - .. I think I'm going to récolter another few bottles in a bit once I've sobered up ...

Definitely a wine for a roast dinner.

You can keep your New world stuff - might as well drink Vodka and Blackcurrant ...

I'm convinced the goodness of the wine has to do with the soil and how the vineyard fertilises the soil. In the old world, I heard that one of the old ways was to bury dead animals and/or carcasses at the edge of the vineyard - the vine instinctively searches out the dead animal and feeds from it. In the new world, I think they're reliant on agri-giant techniques, artificial fertilisers and the like.

A nice porter, was reduced to a quid a bottle in Asda and has plenty of flavour.
I like porter :)

Lustleigh Estate petit verdot, from California (via co-op). Am thinking I might just drink the whole damn bottle.

We have a cheeky box of Jacaranda Hill.......nope I've never heard of before either but it's an ok Shiraz :)

How does one get over the wine-tasting dilemma ?

Just lately I've been choosing mid-winter wines - Cotes du Rhônes that need to go with substantial food, and they're a bit hard-hitting when you would sooner open a bottle of Chenet's Merlot ...

I just bought a bottle of Bordeaux Merlot/Cabernet-Sauvingnon Tesco have on order and don't know whether to get a few more in ....
