Strictly Cotes Du Rhone at the moment - "La Chasse" Réserve from Tesco - £6.99 a bottle ...

Lovely continuum of fruit, tannins and acidity ...cherry, maybe a little strawberry .. none of that over-oaking you get with New World wines.

I always blow all my Tesco clubcard points on wine if they let you. This time you could double up if you got Tesco Finest stuff so I've ended up with sixty quids worth of red. Just about to kick off with a drop of Cotes Catalanes Grenache.

Barolo? I bought a bottle of that but it was fifteen quid-ish. Wouldn't spend that amount on a bottle normally but seeing as it was free (sort of) ... It's very mellow but you've got to let it breathe a bit.
