US election 2020 thread

So what happens when Dems vote early and the GOP go all in on election day? Longer lines for GOP voters...

very poor etiquette i know but
Pennsylvania is looking favourable for Trump now. His rally at Butler PA on Halloween had a massive 57k turnout.

Also worth noting that Trump asks the crowd at his most recent rallies when they are going to vote - by far the majority of the crowd cheer to indicate voting on Election Day itself rather than before.

Surely overall the lines are shorter, but they have a higher concentration of Republicans in
That is probably so but also means those voters are less likely to vote because they need to get home for their tea than the people who have already voted

If trump hadn't spent months telling his own people (the people who believe things he says ) that voting early by post was somehow suspect, fraudulent, then they'd have done so in greater numbers, potentially a big own goal, leaving the less enthusiastic at the mercy of can they be arsed, what's the weather like etc.

Would also have robbed him of the 'postal vote fraud' line though, harder to pull off when you've told all your own people to do it and he's bound to wheel it out the second anything looks bad for him.

Trump overturns Biden lead in four states
Donald Trump appears to have overturned Joe Biden’s lead in four states, according to polling data aggregator RealClearPolitics.
The site suggested that Mr Trump now leads in Iowa by 2 per cent, Ohio by 1.4 per cent, Georgia by 1 per cent, and North Carolina by 0.2 per cent.

Ignore that shite, nobody knows
You can tally GOP/Dem turnout but what about indys? Also patterns of voting (Dems vote later on e day).
Wait for the results

NC results will be delayed by 45 mins as some polling stations had technical issues earlier and will stay open longer to compensate.
No prizes for guessing which party was opposing extended opening hours

Ooh, ooh, I know this one!

Seriously though JTG been loving all your stuff on this thread, good work mate. You are the only thing I'm reading on this election :D

All states no one really expects Biden to win - Georgia as an outside bet maybe

It's gonna be a really long dull night if you're going to post every one of those that crops up

Hot tip for PA watchers: Allegheny County (Pittsburgh) is apparently confident of having a full count by midnight (so 5am our time). If Biden's above 60% there then he's looking good

I expect him to win GA and NC fwiw
I don't think UK papers have any idea of how to parse info out of the States and want to report anything for clicks

I think he could win both, and I think lots of uk papers have pretty good links with us ones and know how to read stuff just as well as me or you.

Biden could well get nigh on 400 in all, tho I’m going for around 350

Well they should stop using RCP, it's shit

Nate Silver just made a great point re: early exit polls - TREAT WITH EXTREME CAUTION.

Even over the course of the day it looks like different sets of voters have turned out at different times - eg heavy GOP voting first thing (most enthusiastic voters in first same as for Dem early votes), more Democratic as the day goes on and the least committed (independents etc) towards the end. So when they bring out exit polls that may have been conducted early on, keep a lid on it. Wait for the counts

Here's some fun, completely pointless fuel for speculation: if somehow Trump wins but Democrats take the Senate and keep the House, would they have a go at impeaching him again?

If nothing else, you'd have to think he'd give them plenty of material in a second term.

Maybe but it's the Dems so they'd probably try to be bipartisan even when they're in control, the dicks

I think Trump's missed a trick by not doing shirt-off manly photoshoots like Putin. Imagine him with a cheeseburger in one hand, grabbing Paula White's pussy with the other, while Russian hookers pee on his firm torso. Paula would be speaking in tongues
