US election 2020 thread

He's got 4 days to pardon Jacob Chainsley else the Q narrative falls apart....
Probably doesn't even know who he is and certainly won't care.
These self styled revolutionaries failed and Trump only cares about winners and winners of his side to boot.

No, not really but the amount of people that were there, their sense of entitlement and their deeply held beliefs leads me to the conclusion that this isn't just going to 'go away'. The US is a very divided county (no shit Sherlock). There may be trouble ahead.

Yeah this isn't going to disappear is it. I think whoever comes next will struggle to mainstream it in the way Trump has. Attacking the capital and trying to execute a conservative religious Republican VP will be a step too far for a lot of Republican voters and corporate Republican officials. And even among the more Trumpy ones I think a lot will drop off as it becomes clear that getting into this stuff can lead to the FBI coming to your door a couple of days later.

The worry is that that will make the real hardcore more committed and more violent though.

Tick-tock:

ATLANTA — Prosecutors in Georgia appear increasingly likely to open a criminal investigation of President Trump over his attempts to overturn the results of the state’s 2020 election, an inquiry into offenses that would be beyond his federal pardon power....

“If you took the fact out that he is the president of the United States and look at the conduct of the call, it tracks the communication you might see in any drug case or organized crime case,” said Michael J. Moore, the former United States attorney for the Middle District of Georgia. “It’s full of threatening undertone and strong-arm tactics.”

Presumably presidential pardons can only be assigned to pre-existing charges or convictions, right? Rather than a get out of jail card for future charges that have not been pressed yet...

Under existing law, the president has the power to issue preemptive pardons for actions that have already occurred that haven't resulted in charges or convictions yet, but can't issue pardons for actions that might happen in the future.

But Trump's probably going to issue a last-minute batch of pardons so over-the-top that it'll likely result in changes to the presidential pardon powers.

If he pardons people like the above, surely that could go against him in the impeachment trial?

Eeek. Boebart's Comms director has quit. Probably due to possibility of the FBI going through her door.

She had to...too much evidence building against her...including live tweeting when it was kicking off... exposing Pelosi's movements,
and saying she knew she had constituents outside the building during the debate just before the building was breached. There is also stuff that seems to show her mother outside at the time.

Yes. There is also the thing that Boebert's mother was the one in the pink hat directing the insurrectionists on where to go with a megaphone.

That is still conspiracy theory status at the moment but I would not be surprised if that one came to fruition looking at the evidence that is out there.
