Yes. You’re quite right.
I didn’t post that link to support “no go zones” I posted it to illustrate what I said immediately above it: that things are tricky in rural areas.
And as I said, I shouldn’t have said no go zones as a fact when it’s a deduction based what I’ve picked up from conversations and from things I’ve read and listened to.
In rural areas, I wouldn't really call them "no go zones." There are places where the law enforcement is so sparse that there's no meaningful law enforcement. (That doesn't mean its a dangerous place to go.) My home county takes an hour and half to drive across, yet their law enforcement consists of the Sherriff, a deputy, and the sheriff's wife who takes care of the jail, and womans the radio. There isn't any way that level of staffing is able to do effective law enforcement over that large a territory. There's also the factor that sometimes wealth is pretty concentrated. Just few people might have the power to effectively fire the Sherriff so you end up with a list of people the Sherriff won't touch. There's been a number of cases of serial thefts that went unsolved. When the state patrol got involved and caught the person, it was always the kid of someone on that unofficial list (once, it was the Sherriff's kid). There are a lot of people with no visible means of support who always seem to have money. A lot of the time, they're running a grow operation, or cooking meth. (Puppy mills are also popular, although that's legal.) Had a neighbor who was cooking meth, after failing at running a dog racing operation. There are also places where the addresses are non-existent, although the Post Office is trying to assign addresses in those areas so they can be mapped out. Couple that with a culture of silence and mistrust of authority and it can be pretty difficult to find someone. So if you need a place to hide, one of these rural areas that are still without addresses might work.
