US election 2020 thread

Just hope the Georgian Democrats are taking every opportunity to register their voters and to get them turned out on the day (or even better, do mail-in voting !)

It should be easy, given that Kemp and the Secretary of State are doing the bidding of Stacey Abrams .

I'd like to know more about that too, but I'm inclined to be quite optimistic, given how many voters Stacey Abrams and her friends/campaigns succeeded in persuading to register prior to November 3rd, and to vote on the day

And Biden won Georgia! :)

The best bit is how Rudy himself is trying to get the witness to reign it in a bit with the wild assertions and she just hasn’t got a clue what she’s doing wrong, she’s just singing loud and proud from the song sheet she’s been given, doing little harmonies and flourishes to add to impact.

Imagine being so out there that Rudy Giuliani is telling you to tone it down - reminds me of when someone, I think it was Shane McGowan, said they realised they had a problem when Keith Richards took them aside to tell them they should slow down a little bit.

As more and more people peel off and face reality, the crazy just gets more and more concentrated in those still clinging on

Yet another thing that narks me about Trump is that he is so bad that he makes me appreciate Johnson (a man I have a low opinion of at the best of times)

And maybe the crazy itself draws in others who were not that invested in trump before?
I just had a hunch, went to Piers Corbyn’s twitter and lo there it is, retweeting the Sidney Powell stuff in amongst how vaccines will kill you.
fuck me, twitter needs to get a grip on such disinformation !

I know what you mean rutabowa . She’s cartoon level. The eyebrow flip-off was just perfect. And her hair seems to have stayed up late from the night before.

littlebabyjesus Yes, there a lot of really revolting stuff going on. I was looking at the Columbia Bugle Twitter feed yesterday. Really upsetting levels of nasty ugly bullshit.

ETA Mutually exclusive agreements are not in conflict.

He’s released a video of a 45 minute speech.

Here’s the link to the speech on his YouTube channel :

Here’s the transcript, so you don’t have to watch it.

And here are some MSM responses :

Dont think ive seen anything like this yet in the last 4 years - seems to me every interviewer and every spokesperson has basically been pandering to Trump, basically enabled the whole process, by remaining calm and pretending its normal but a bit embarrassing. The US could do with a bit more of this, and then some:

And here’s Gabe Sterling following up on that speech

That speech is pretty inflammatory. Trump's still trying to stir up people to violence by the look of that.

I’d agree with this.

There’s a danger (?) that sane people are getting kinda tired of the crazy merry go round and start to turn their attention to other things, like normal life; that allows space for the shit to ferment and grow into a seething monster with legs. The loyal Trump people will continue to lap this all up for as long as Trump keeps spewing it out.

Non-Trump supporters run the risk of complacency. Maybe not right away, (this sewer will continue to flow even if it’s out of sight) but maybe in a year or two, certainly in the run up to the 2024 election, regardless of whether Trump runs or not, the problems will be re-arise.

(Apologies for all the metaphors & analogies but I really can’t find the language to talk about all this in ordinary terms.)

Here’s Stephen Colbert with quick canter around today’s headlines.

Including the news that the Tiger King is applying for a presidential pardon.
