US election 2020 thread

The House of Lords version of 'some of my best friends are...'

Feudalism lives on.

btw the answer to his question is 'she nominates a new one, who is subsequently approved by congress'. Took me about 30 seconds to find that out.
I know the answer to that one from watching Designated Survivor

Acording to his Wikipedia...

'Kilclooney had previously been labelled an "old racist dinosaur" by Piers Morgan, for comments he had made in 2017 about cricketer Moeen Ali. Kilclooney had said on Twitter that, "Times have changed! The England team now needs non English people in order to win Test Games".

When it was pointed out that Ali was born in Britain, Kilclooney responded, "Moeen Ali is proud to be British but racially he is not English. There is a difference between being English and being British!!", adding that, "A Chinese born in England is Chinese and not English!"'
Also:
“When challenged, he claimed, "I had never heard of her nor knew her name is Harris. India is quite rightly celebrating that an Indian, who has USA citizenship, has been appointed Vice President elect" further refusing to acknowledge that Harris was born in the USA and drawing criticism for racism.”
Bullshit had he not heard of her or knew her name

Trump has just sacked the Sec of State for Defence (no link, it was just a breaking news banner thing).

Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) Tweeted: ...Chris will do a GREAT job! Mark Esper has been terminated. I would like to thank him for his service.
The terminator :D

A quick google says 'Who?'

He'd been in his previous job since June. Was previously in charge of Special Ops, it appears.

responsible for overseeing the employment of special operations forces in counterterrorism, Military Information Support Operations (MISO), Information Operations, unconventional warfare, irregular warfare, direct action, special reconnaissance, foreign internal defense, counter proliferation, sensitive special operations, and personnel recovery/hostage issues

:hmm:

Christopher C. Miller > U.S. DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE > Biography

So could he nuke anywhere he likes or are there safeguards?
No safeguards, apparently, except the willingness of multiple people to disobey. The people responsible for actually launching nuclear missiles are supervised by someone ordered to shoot them if they don't do it, I think.

Sen Susan Collins (R-Maine) congratulates Joe Biden on his victory

Joins Mitt Romney (Utah) and Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) amongst Republican Senators to have congratulated the President-Elect

What's the truth behind the claims Romney and Dick Cheney are joining the cabinet? I've seen tweets claiming so, just wondering if you knew anything JTG

What if they make an entirely unintentional mistake which ends up meaning he gets a burger instead of a bomb. I really don’t think trumps going to nuke anyone. More likely he’s just sacking anybody who says biden’s name to him or talks about the transition,
