US election 2020 thread

Not sure tbh but certainly grim people like John Kasich are demanding that the left be marginalised. Don't need to describe what's going on, it's the same rhetoric you hear from the most awful people in the Labour Party.
That Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib's organising and ground game in Minneapolis and Detroit helped drive up turn out there and deliver two marginal states into the Democratic column is neither here nor there - thanks for your efforts, now fuck off
I’m sure you know this, but Kasich is a Republican so not sure why he would be relevant for the Democrats.

He loudly supported Biden over Trump, which made such a difference in his home state of, uhhh, Ohio.
Biden made a big play for the so-called 'McCain Republicans'. When it all comes out in the wash, I don't think that part of his imagined coalition is going to have amounted to very much. It might, just, have won Biden Arizona, and that's probably about it. A lesson that the Democrats may or may not learn from.

For fans of swing:

Thing that catches my eye is the contrast between Ohio and Pennsylvania, Georgia and Florida heading in quite different directions and Texas diverging depending on where you are

What do you want them to do?
Personally I would like the USAF to carry out strategic missile and drone strikes on Riyadh aimed at the Saudi Royal Family but failing that I would certainly like to see a much more balanced policy towards the Middle East, there needs to be rapproachment with Iran. The Iranian regime is a fucking awful one but I don't think Trump's policy of starve the peasants till they rise up was ever going to work. Obama to give him the credit was willing to take the long view and accept that the Iranians had to be given something to get them to the table, Get Iran to start opening up and the people might start to realise just how much they were being screwed over.
As for the Palestinian question and Syria fucked if I know but then Trump didn't even care (not I think that Biden will get anywhere)

I think the US should just fuck off and stay out of other countries' business and that people that expect them to 'do things' about other nations are most of the problem with that. Got a problem, go to the fucking UN. And when do you think the people of the US will 'realise just how much they're being screwed over'?

Fuck liberal mass murderers.

This election was a reminder of the scale of the situtation. A quarter of a million US soldiers are stationed abroad and they haven't even started any new invasions recently.

I don't know what the total is for the rest of the world put together, but it won't be much more that that.

Oh, I don't know. Nothing projects political gravitas quite like a ride on mower. 😂

So I've had a bit of an amendment to the story. Apparently the Trump camp did book the Four Seasons Landscaping in error thinking it was the hotel. They then realised their error and tried to book the Four Seasons Hotel, which was declined by Four Seasons (not sure why). They then had to tough it out as though they'd booked the landscaping service all along.

Much to be said for that point of view but it hits the problem that the US isn't the only nation meddling in the affairs of others and would require everyone else to do the same, what use was the UN when Russia invaded Ukraine? What use would it be if China decided to take back Taiwan by force? The conflict brewing between Egypt and Ethiopia over the Nile dam? The US is the worlds premier superpower, It has a huge military, economic and technological lead over the rest of the world.
Even if it wanted (which it clearly dosn't) to not meddle in the affairs of other nations it would get dragged in.
As for the Americans realising they themselves are being screwed well given 70 million of them voted for Trump, not any time soon is the answer to that.

So you're actively seeking world war three then?
You do realise that I am not the President of the United States right? I'm some random nobody on the internet swapping my insigificant opinions with other random nobodies and that nothing you or I think matters in the slightest.
As for your question no of course not, I agree the world would be a better place if the US, Russia, China and of course that shower in Westminster didn't meddle in other people's business so much but the world is a lot more complicated than it would all be fine if the US called its troops home. Most of those troops (not those in Afghanistan or Iraq and the odd other place) are not there as invaders, they're there because the governments of their host states have invited them there because they consider it in theit national and strategic interests to have them there.
What use was the US?
Not a lot much to the great disappointment of the Ukrainians but I don't think it will deter other governments from making deals with them.
