This goes with the plot to kidnap and murder at least two governors in October. They've also expanded Biden's security detail in anticipation of his election win.

I think the top election officials in each state are elected? Must be weird for them, at one level they must want to get the fucking thing done and the prospect of armed loons outside they're counting centres done and dusted (the prospect of violence is real, but not quite happening yet). But then any moves to bring in extra counters or speed things up will just add to conspiraloonist cack. So they're stuck with slow and steady and sticking bits of cardboard up. Democracy, eh?

Yes I think optics and narrative matter too. The bigger the victory in terms of electoral college votes the better - needs to counter the powerful perception that something was stolen somewhere

Losing Arizona would be big in terms of perception.

Georgia (from 538 live blog)

Biden’s lead still stands at +1,096 votes. But Gabriel Sterling, the statewide voting systems implementation manager, joined “Good Morning America” and said that there were at least 8,197 votes still outstanding. This includes at least 4,800 ballots from Gwinnett County, which has trended blue and is likely to add to Biden’s margin.

But note, that figure does not include provisional ballots, potential absentee ballot cures or military and overseas ballots. The deadline to verify provisional ballots/cure absentee ballots is today, as is the deadline for military/overseas ballots to be returned, as long as they were postmarked by Election Day. (Sterling said the maximum number of military/overseas ballots that could come in is 8,899.)

“When we know the outcome of this election, we’re going to have an audit afterwards and we have a very good likelihood that it’s going to be within a half of a percentage,” Sterling said. “Under our laws, whoever comes in second in this election [in Georgia], they can request a recount.”
