Thing about the hanging chads wheeze is that it worked, and that the governor of the state concerned just happened to be the brother of one of the candidates. Trump is an old man shaking his fist at the sky mostly atm. None of the states are stopping anything for him. The count goes on.

We somehow manage it the other way round with some urban seats getting it counted by 11.30 at night, while a few rural seats go for a pint or 2 before totting up.

I think a big difference is that yer rural counties tot up and report on the spot and then phone it in, so when Hicksville has had its 300 votes all counted and tallied it's time to phone it in and fuck off home to watch the rest on telly. Urban precincts that have to count thousands and thousands of votes, plus the mail ins etc, don't have that luxury

Many moons ago I was going out with an American and visited him in Michigan. When he was driving us to his home from Chicago I made him divert to Kalamazoo. It was amazing actually just a quite disappointing midwest town
