US election 2020 thread

Lincoln Project have been great entertainment, through this tbf, fighting the good fight. Methinks Mr Sirota is spoiling for a fight - He must be new to Twitter, it's really not the arena for tit-for-tats... :hmm:

They were just a pressure group; what was needed is for someone plausible to come along as a Republican alternative to Trump and that never happened.

I haven't seen much about the actual counting process yet. IIRC there were some auto counting machines some times ago which permitted the tallying of presidential and senatorial votes at the same time. Again IIRC they were discredited (perhaps that was the hanging chads episode), but it begs the question, how are they tallying the multiple votes on the same ballot this time?

Biggest polling failure ever? Im wondering weather trump got votes cos of growing anti lockdown sentiment and those voters were reluctant to fess up to pollsters on their selfishness

Even in NC where there's only c5% of the vote left to count, the counties that are noticeably low on counting so far (90-95%) are blue and urban (Charlotte, Fayetteville, Raleigh)
So Urban could win it for Biden? 🤣

Every now and then they have a referendum about splitting California in two. Normally thought to favour republicans and potentially split the electoral college vote so they don't all go Dem, but with those numbers you'd have to say the Dems would probably hold both and get an extra two Senate seats into the deal most years.
Didn't know that. North Cal is the redder half but with the Bay Area, Sacramento and the coast you'd give it a reasonable chance of being Dem

Sorry but who are the PMC? I've not slept enough to work it out
It stands for "Professional Managerial Class", basically self appointed, professional interlocutors between various, mostly marginalized, groups and the various state/capitalist power structures. They are referred to as a 'class' because they act mostly to channel antagonisms into mainstream politics and reproduce their own place in society.

The Trump lead is so fucking slim in Georgia, North Carolina and Wisconsin but I'm afraid to say he may hold on to it in all three and thereby have this sown up.

clearly not that fucking compelling.

Well, I didn't want to go into that much detail, but there is am argument to say they are preaching to the converted with (relatively) clever and polished internet interactions. Not quite reaching out to the people they really need to convert,

I mean, I'm sure they have their audience but I don't think it's as big as they obviously thought it was

The BBC currently have an American talking head, Seth whatever, who's laughing and talking over the democrat he's talking to.

He has a poster behind him with Trump on saying "Cheers to my haters. Be patient, there's so much more coming." And another poster saying "John Wayne creed." He's outright denying that Trump is trying to stop votes being counted even though that's explicitly what Trump has said.

The female democrat, Anisha (I think) is holding her own well against him. But he's still laughing like a total fucking arsehole.
