US Democratic Party Primaries 2019

Bernie will win the nomination. "Socialism" will be the issue of the campaign. The evil orange bafoon will get 4 more years.

old-line GOPpers are trying to point out that trump's economics are a sort of socialism (not real socialism obv, but it passes over here). i wonder if sanders will tout subsidies, e.g., and say "mine will be better". the warning is that the trumpers will bring up sanders' past third-worldism, but imho this can be countered with trump's own praise for foreign autocrats.

Of all the democratic candidates, only Sanders has a cat's chance in hell against Trump.

no, biden/klobuchar could. stop laughing, i'm quite serious.

Steyer and Klobuchar have dropped out too.
...and then there were four.
EDIT: Hang on is Gabbard still in it?

I'll vote for him but as economist Paul Krugman pointed out, Bernie has handed the Repubs a weapon by labeling himself a socialist.
I didn't ask if you'd vote for him. You campaigned for Hillary didnt you? Not surprised someone as historically and politically illiterate as yourself is scared of socialism. You really should try it though. Poll after poll suggests it's a massively popular ideology in the US whatever Mr Krugman says.

All the good little centrists, dropping out to give Biden a clear shot.

It's amazing how after having four years to reflect on Hillary Clinton's defeat, the Democrats still don't get it - to win, Donald Trump doesn't need to get any Democrats or Democratic-leaning independents to vote for him, he just needs to make sure they're so jaded they don't vote at all. And once again, the Democratic Party is doing the job for him.

I'm not scared of socialism. I voted for Hillary but didn't campaign for her. Krugman supports Bernie. He simply made the observation the term "socialist" gives the Repubs a weapon. And I think the campaign will prove him right.

Morons. I wonder if the people in charge of the Democratic party realize that they've just declared war on a large chunk of their base. More evidence for my theory that they'd rather lose to Trump than ever run Sanders.

It’s a remnant of the Cold War the whole ‘socialism is bad’ shite. I think there was a poll recently and for the first time a majority of people between ages of 18-45 had a positive view of the term socialism and a minority with the term capitalism. So I think this election will also be as much about old vs young as any other demographic you want to pluck out of the air.

Also, a lot of these centrist voters have Sanders down as their second preference which is funny enough. Once Warren drops out it’ll even the field for Bernie. I hope Bloomberg and his big stupid ego stays in long enough to split Biden’s vote too.

I'm just hoping the mess at the Iowa caucuses is going to lead to a shake-up in the whole nominating process - why doesn't every state just hold their primaries on the same day? How did they decide that the best way to pick a president was to get a bunch of candidates and use Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina to filter them?

I don't see how that's really different from previous elections. They branded Obama a socialist. They brand every democrat with that tag, so much so, that its has ceased to have as much power. The democratic candidate might as well own it and explain what his policies would look like in practice.

Hmm... only Obama wasn’t proposing a green new deal to roll out over a decade at an estimated cost of $93 - 100 Trillion.

Apparently Bloomberg is spending $100 per second on campaign ads.
Which part of that infotainment makes you think that he has in his heart the support of the working class?

Unless you get a boner for the money? Is that it! If you got a sniff of their table they'll just take the piss.

You're a tool. Solidarity, that's all we have. You'll learn.

A recent poll showed asked which was better: Capitalism and Socialism. A majority of both California and Texas respondents went with "Socialism" with the biggest winning margin being in Texas!

D'oh, Just saw this posted upthread by flypanam

It's doubtful if Warren would drop out. Unless it's to back Biden post Tuesday. Otherwise, she now seems to be there to just split the progressive vote and spoiler Sanders...

He also lost his hair over the spectre of public executions in central park with him in the queue being marshalled to the killing grounds by vengeful sanders supporters. The man's a fucking joke -he's either a credulous fool or he's losing his marbles.

If he's going after sanders he should at least base his attacks on some semblance of reality...
he's also just 'quit' for being, surprise surprise, a bit of a sexist pig with a hardon for republican women.

almost forgot the link - US TV host resigns with apology for 'compliments'

Iowa may have been a mess but the push for primaries over caucuses is in order to reduce democracy.
