If you're on contract they assume you are over 18, it's literally as far as I'm aware just a case of going to a website and clicking enable content. At least that's what I've had to do with EE, o2 and 3 in my various network hops.

Reading the BBC story seems to suggest they aren't going to stipulate how the age check is performed. So I predict we will get those 'confirm your age' pop ups that you get on some movie trailer sites or on vape sites. They don't actually verify anything at all. You can enter what you want. Also says that they will be able to block sites but won't be imposing the £250k fines that were first touted about. Because once you block sites, there's no way round that.
