What do you expect for the wwwkend? For me:

Ireland to beat Scotland with a degree of comfort
England to hammer France
Referee to try but fail to cheat Wales out of a win

Dunno with Farrell out we’ll have Ringrose back but it’s a new partnership. Plus two weeks to get stockdale to stop facing inwards in defence could be a big ask as is asking McFadden to trust the inside defender. Though it depends on which Scotland turns up on the tenth.
England and Wales will win well.
Happy St. David’s day to the Welsh posters.

Eddie Jones says he was 'physically and verbally abused' after Calcutta Cup defeat - Eddie Jones says he was 'physically and verbally abused' after Calcutta Cup defeat

Not justifying this attack (assumed it happened) but behaving like a low level troll and poking the wasps nest then expect to get stung at some point.

Interestingly he doesnt state whether it was England or Scotland fans! On twitter there was tweet by someone who was in same carriage as him on sunday morning saying they saw no one approach him! Maybe this is more Eddie Jones' psychological bollocks.

I wouldn't put anything past that shiny little turd. If it happened I do love the way he's partly blamed Hastings for it.... If he winds people up (and he does) then expect some of those people wound up to act like idiots. No point shrugging his shoulders when shit like this happens (allegedly)

Eddie Jones can hardly shrug his fucking shoulders. He partially blames Gavin Hastings for the incident and his trash talk and Jones does so with no fucking sense of irony whatsoever. Fact is if you piss a lot of people off a minority of morons will act like dickheads. If that annoys Jones then maybe he should pipe down. I remember cringing when gatland questioned Hartley and his disciplinary record very publicly. I just don't think it's appropriate to be honest. Get on with the game I say. Let the team do the talking

This works for Jones in two ways a. it takes the heat off the players, their abject game plan and their inability to think on the pitch and b. he uses this story as a motivational tool to build up a sense of injustice. A la Millwall.

Oi! :D

Agree with all of the above. In fact, it's likely that the ref will favour Wales as we will be perceived to be the stronger side.

I had a sneaking suspicion Wales would play some great rugby this year. I believe that suspicion was proven right.

I also had a deep down feeling somewhere Scotland would beat England-even though in my head I thought England would win. I was right

I have a feeling they will run Ireland close with a possible victory.

And.... I have a suspicion Wales will finish above England in the end table.

I ain't no mystic Meg... But that's what I'm thinking could happen. Wales will get two bonus points last two matches. I also think Ireland will beat England. I even think France will run England close too. Denying them a bonus point.

You heard it here first ;)

Right, didn't post anything at the weekend because I was pissed and annoyed, but I thought this at the time and I still think it now.

England needed that. For too long we've won games by being fitter, luckier, something-else-er rather than actually being consistently good. We won that second half hands down, Scotland couldn't even get past us with 14 and if we'd played the first half like that we would have fucking wrecked them, but instead we turned up expecting to win because we "always" do and Scotland rightly showed us what that can get you.

If Eddie and the rest aren't telling them that nothing less than 80 minutes (without the fucking stupid no-arms tackle type bollocks) of the kind of play they produced in last 40 against Scotland is the ABSOLUTE fucking minimum they need to produce against both France and Ireland, then I shall be fucking livid. No more bullshit, no more mind games, turn up and do your fucking job.

That's what I'd be saying. Now or never England, now or never.

Great post. I think that the next couple of games could well break or make the shiny uncle's career. The scale of England's loss against Scotland means that all bets are off. Eddie has a tendency, Mourinho like, to burn bright, fuck up and fuck off. Let's see if this is another - there's a few have been predicting it this time around.

Suspect I'm feeling a bit like you did during the worst days of Gatlandball. We've got so many great players (and several arseholes) and could be so good without all the fuckwittery and bullshit. I just want them to turn up and play good rugby for the full 80 instead of all the focus on the coaches gob and players acting like dicks. Really fucking frustrating.

Don't know who I'd want to coach them instead mind, but suspect you're right about Eddie's departure.

Do you think a potential mid table finish could break Jones? Surely the rfu wouldn't lose faith in Jones?

I think it would place massive pressure on him and sow doubts internally and externally. Thing is, it's a post Lions year and England contributed the most players to the tour so objectively a middling performance should come as little surprise. I think it would tarnish England and Eddie's aura of success though, yeah, which in turn could shift the media into attack mode, and let's be honest: Eddie is an easy man to dislike.

Wales starting XV: 15. Liam Williams, 14. George North, 13. Owen Watkin, 12. Hadleigh Parkes, 11. Steff Evans, 10. Gareth Anscombe, 9. Gareth Davies, 1. Nicky Smith, 2. Elliot Dee, 3. Tomas Francis, 4. Bradley Davies, 5. Cory Hill, 6. Justin Tipuric, 7. James Davies, 8. Taulupe Faletau (capt)

Replacements: Ken Owens, Rob Evans, Samson Lee, Seb Davies, Ellis Jenkins, Aled Davies, Rhys Patchell, Leigh Halfpenny

Basketballtastic selection for Wales vs. italy with quite possibly the most mobile backrow in the history of the game selected in the shape of Tips, Talupe and Cubby. Woe betide the Italians if they get turned over anywhere on the pitch, basically, which looks fairly likely. On the flip side the tight 5 is poor/in development and we're surrendering setpiece strength and gainline parity

That backline looks pretty lethal. Interesting starting selection in Anscombe as well - I think Gatland is starting to back a horse in the great 10 race, the interception notwithstanding.

Great to see Seb Davies on the bench alongside the grizzled game-savers if everything goes to rack and ruin. He is the post AWJ future.

I've been in Sri Lanka the last couple of weeks. What did I miss?

I wouldn't recommend Sri Lanka if you're keen on watching the 6N. 37 channels of cricket.

15. Rob Kearney 14. Keith Earls 13. Garry Ringrose 12. Bundee Aki 11. Jacob Stockdale 10. Johnny Sexton 9. Conor Murray
1. Cian Healy 2. Rory Best 3. Tadhg Furlong 4. James Ryan 5. Devin Toner 6. Peter O'Mahony 7. Dan Leavy,8 CJ Stander

Replacements
16. Sean Cronin (St Mary's College/Leinster) 59 caps
17. Jack McGrath (St Mary's College/Leinster) 45 caps
18. Andrew Porter (UCD/Leinster) 5 caps
19. Iain Henderson (Ballynahinch/Ulster) 36 caps
20. Jordi Murphy (Lansdowne/Leinster) 18 caps
21. Kieran Marmion (Corinthians/Connacht) 19 caps
22. Joey Carbery (Clontarf/Leinster) 8 caps
23. Jordan Larmour (St Mary's College/Leinster) 1 cap

Good side, great to see Larmour get on the bench especially if the game opens up in the last ten.

Wales game should be interesting. The front five is a joke but I'm all for making a daft amount of changes for the Italy game, makes the least enjoyable game much more interesting.

Italy by 7. ;)

I've been in Sri Lanka the last couple of weeks. What did I miss?

1) the Irish finding, replicating and weaponising Richie McCaw's invisibility cloak
2) the French and Italians reprising their two bald men fighting over a comb act
3) the English discovering that having vast slabs of meat in their backrow is no substitute for having a decent openside
4) everyone being reminded once more that Farrell is a petulant twat
5) everyone laughing a little bit guiltily at Uncle Eddie getting a bit of stick on a train
6) Wales showing that ball in hand they're lethal, but that without strong carriers getting said ball in hand can be tricky
7) O'Wens blowing his chances of getting gigs on the English after dinner speaker circuit

HTH :)
