My main beef with sloppy use of language (which I think is understandable in the UK, but that is an American cartoon) is that it hampers useful dialogue between parties.
“Assault style” is just a term invented by a portion of the US media to create drama, and the Democrats have run with this.
What the military (and what everyone used
to) call assault rifles have been heavily restricted since 1934 (National Firearms Act).
Back then, the NRA backed the act.
The tragedy is that it is pretty easy to find gun enthusiasts who favour better background checks and other increases in restrictions, but they have come to distrust the weaselly words from the Dems and the portion of the media backing them.
In the meantime, though, some of the blatant pisstaking by the gunmakers really needs dealing with imo.

Most professional soldiers use a rifle most of the time on semi auto.
The things are advertised as tactical and with operators being tactical so claiming it’s a modern sporting rifle is frankly bollocks.
