The American mass shooting thread

he names out there,

appears to be a rapper who wanted to be famous
aside from that son of a guy who run for mayor but was beaten by the incumbent on gun control ticket

also a Maga

Merica

His father owns a business in the area too - that will go well I'm sure ...

Like Killer Mike.

He doesn't seem particularly left wing tbh. I'm thinking about the 'John Brown Gun Club' and some of the Bernie supporting gun owners

On the best of weekends Chicago is a dangerous place. This last weekend Chicago saw 71 shot, and 8 dead (2022). A good chunk of that was from one incident.

This is actually an improvement over the previous year, with 100 shot and 18 dead (2021):

Chicago's murder rate began skyrocketing when the government gutted funds to cities for not only policing, but housing, and other social services. Over the last year, the city has put a lot of effort into decreasing guns deaths, and it shows, but it still has an achingly long way to go. If guns are always going to be a thing, then we should invest in all of the social problems that prevent gun violence. Unfortunately, you won't find the right signing onto that either.

The ironic thing here is that violence decreased is the so-called "bad parts of town" and the mass shooting happened in one of the wealthiest enclaves in the US. (Maybe when it happens to rich people, it will change, but they'll probably just rachet down on poor and brown people).

Is there any truth to the idea that Trump started getting a small, but increased amount of support in some Black communities because of failures to tackle violence by democrats who ran some of the city administrations? I've read that this happened in some places but I don't know how widespread it was. (And obviously Trump isn't going to do any good lol)

I've never read or heard that. I think some of the current levels of violence happened because the Obama administration agreed to cap various parts of the budget and several agencies experienced automatic budget cuts in an effort to compromise with the GOP. He should have never thought the GOP was interested in working with him.

Found this from AP thought provoking on gun violence in America, in particular one point made that a focus on mass shootings might obscure the reality and lead to skewed responses like mass safety drills when although somewhat more common they still represent a small fraction of the deaths{

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...ghth-graders-ballistic-shields-for-backpacks/

13 and 14-year-olds getting ballistic plates for their backpacks still people think the answer is to arm teachers:facepalm:.

remember reading an article in wired selling leather jacks with body armour attached ideal for visiting the club that's in a bad part of town.
frankly, if you need body armour no clubs that good.
but body armour for kids is a real product
ballistic plates for backpacks do very little to protect the front

So the heavily armed and protected cops were there within 2 and a half minutes. In the hallway. While this guy was shooting. It took them over an hour to get the balls to actually go in to the classroom. The footage is fucking horrific. It's not of the killings, but of them standing around doing nothing, except for one guy who tries to go in but is pulled back by other cops.

That was horrific the first three on the scene should have dealt with it.
After that it just became a Mongolian Cluster_Fuck as more troops piled in expecting somebody to be in charge and the cunts who Bottled it justifying their actions. 🤬
If you rock up and get told the perp is barricaded you belive your fellow cops in uniform. Not that they pissed themselves and are leaving children to die.

( much like if a squaddie runs up to you in full nbc kit outside a nuclear power plant and tells you to leave you don't question it you don't think there just a bunch of bored cunts having a laugh🙄' don't worry we blamed the paras)
