T20 Cricket World Cup

125 in the end, DLS-adjusted. Pretty good, not amazing, but a good recovery from a horrible start. And the sun's out! Get out there and get through five overs and it's a match.

No-balls don't help! Not clever.

either that or the rest of the team were bored with him

i didn't know you could do that in a competitive game - i have read somewhere that ian botham was once sent out after the fall of a wicket with instructions to run geoff boycott out so as to get the scoring going
New rule. You're allowed to retire a batter out. I don't mind too much, but you should have to pay for doing so with a run, imo.

Yeah, well played Scotland. They can consider themselves a little unfortunate - getting an excellent start in the rained-off game then going out on NRR is rough. In the end, England got the luck.

Shame the England match couldn't be completed. Losing matches to the weather always plays havoc on tournaments with small groups like this.

19.5 overs: Pakistan 111-7 (Babar 33, Afridi 13) Afridi seals the deal with his second six of Delany’s over, rescuing Pakistan from another self-inflicted slump. Holds his nerve with two huge blows, dropped in between by Stirling at slip who can’t hold onto a flying edge.

1 ball left? Great performance Ireland has to be

Yeah it does introduce a big element of luck doesn't it. Harsh on Scotland to go out but would have been equally harsh on England.

On the other hand though the smaller groups do ensure there's that element of jeopardy and if you're a smaller team you actually get rewarded for pulling off a big result. Think I probably prefer it to the neverending group stage in the 50 over WC.

Shame to see NZ out. But Lockie Ferguson manages to bowl four maidens for the first time in T20s :D

I mean I know it's PNG but still. Quite a performance.

Good win on at a stupid time so none of us saw it. England's next two are both 3.30pm our time, first one on Friday v South Africa.

Why do early games like this show as a result for today? They're behind us, so the game must've started yesterday, no?

What time did that match start locally?

8.30pm.

If you're on about cricinfo, it's because they localise their site to your preferred country. I think you (and I) may even have ticked a box many years ago to do this, but I might have imagined that.
