Six Nations 2021

I'd have thought that it wasn't because he knocked it forward but it hit his leg before it hit the ground or another player. The commentators were saying that he'd lost control though so it was
Call me old fashioned, but i prefer referees to make the decisions rather than ill informed commentators!

The real story...England conceded 16 points in around 15 minutes when it mattered the most. This for me is a bigger story than two ropey tries. A team allegedly at the top of their game, that comprehensively dismantled the worlds No1 team in the RWC semi final should NOT be imploding in such a manner. They imploded against the boks in the final and they imploded here. If there's one thing they are consistent at is fucking things up when they least can afford to.

Yeah, decision making under pressure really poor shit today, 20 mins to go and they can still realistically win the game. Complete fuck up. We need a better captain with a more level head.

I think they need a new coach. He's done all he can do with this team. The WRU stuck with Gatland, but Gatland started blooding new players, changing the way they played. I haven't seen much in the way progression with this England team truth be known. Jones is coaching the richest team in the world with high levels of skill, talent & strength in depth. You wouldnt have thought that looking at them today.

I thought they showed some real promise attacking when they finally got a platform to play from. But, their 2010/20 style of play has been found out, they are not problem solvers (overcoached?) and have seemed stale this tourney, lost discipline a feature of this 6 nations so far. Also a question mark over Sarries players not having game time. Too many to comfortable on the squad, he should drop a couple of experienced ones to make a point and give some newbies a decent run of games.

Course then they should sack Jones and give his job to me cos I know it all :D.

Probably an unpopular view but I quit like Eddie, all teams have a cycle and this one seems to have run it's course. The real challenge will be how he revamps them, Ireland and France (whenever that happens) will be interesting to say the least.

I started going off him when Italy outwitted us a couple of years ago in the first half with the uncontested ruck? - really creative and him describing it as not rugby seemed just sour grapes :(

That was funny as fuck. Damage was done before it reached Jones. Captain of England, at Twickernham, asking the ref how to play rugby

aye thats the problem with the english side

its the unforced errors that are destroying their prospects

Eddie thinks england are the all blacks but cannot train them in game/ref management

the freely giving away penalties is the orks biggest weakness and Eddie cannot solve it

Here's that first try again. There's a significant chunk of time between the ref calling time on and the kick going to the wing. By the time it does the English defenders to the right of the screen have fanned out and are in position. Ford and, I think Watson, on the other hand are wandering slowly over with their backs to Biggar, who has spotted the opportunity and executed brilliantly. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this try or the officiating, and the shrill bleating from Johnno and his fellow pundits (including the Welsh ones) served to set up an incorrect narrative that England were stiffed by the ref. On the evidence of this there was no stiffing of any kind, just an inexcusable failure to read the game and to defend effectively.

i don't defend the english rugby team very often but that was a bad ref call

you are jammy bastards bendeus

if i was in the welsh team i would be buying lottery tickets

:D

It was a bad ref call - but look at the English defence on the other side - they are paying attention - they got into position.
So how was it a bad ref call if half the side are in position and the other can't be arsed? It was brainless, naive play from a number of the English team that got punished. Period.

I think the ref shouldn't allow a quick penalty after telling the English captain to talk to his team. It is a close call. Great play by Wales to spot the chance.

At the moment of the try 23 seconds had elapsed from the time the ref told OF to have a talk. 9 had elapsed since the talk had finished and the players were returning at varying speeds to their defensive line and 2-3 had elapsed since the ref had called time. Absolutely no excuses for England and an entirely appropriate refereeing decision.

I'm not defending England's performance today - it was very poor.

There were some good passages of play, but even Italy manage that sometimes.

I'm looking forward to the jammy grand slam as I'm sated by the mercurial, physical and attritional ones we've won over the last 16 years 😉
