Rugby World Cup 2023

Just noticed its South Africa-Tonga later. Arguably the two most physical sides in the tournament. That's gonna be fun.

If he’s yellow carded an Aussie player but the ball has then been dropped before try then it’s clearly a penalty try

It looked like there was no reason to overrule that grounding to me

As far as I understand it there has to be 'clear' reason not to go with the on field decision right?

I'm very much over the TMO in this WC. The micro-management of the on field ref must drive them nuts (I speak as someone who has a very overbearing manager). She might as well just be reffing by a drone herself.

Generally speaking, I think it works extremely well in rugby. Works as it should do - looking out for things the ref has missed. It's never going to be 100%, but it's pretty close.

And the on-field ref is very much in charge in a rugby match, even with TMO. You could even argue that with the TMO, the ref is even more in charge, as players now know they can't get away with stuff behind the ref's back.

I really like the running commentary from refs, I wish they'd do something like that in football.

Australia vs Portugal game went pretty much as I predicted aside from Australia winning. The Fiji game will be tense.

So so sick of this 'shoulder to head' nonsense. It's FUCKING RUGBY.
