Nicola Bulley Missing

The body coming to the surface after three weeks seems similar to the Lewes case I mentioned on page1. They also found a body in the river/canal at Hackney in the last few days of someone who went missing about a week before Nicola Bulley.

I thought this was common knowledge. Corpses in water don’t surface for sometime until the buoyancy due to gases during decomposition takes effect. God bless an eccentric science teacher I guess.

It hasn't helped that there has been a massive and hardly surprising breakdown in trust of authority. Blaming this all on Netflix and TikTock misses the point that the baseline assumption has become that anyone in the public eye is a liar and/or a charlatan.

Also, the lesson is, and not one I needed to learn, most people with their opinions on Twitter and TikTok, are surplus no Mark pricks.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4's Today programme, Mr Eastwood [some retired cop dude] also accused "so-called specialists" of imposing themselves on the investigation and Ms Bulley's family.

He said they "fed into a lot of people's obsessions", adding: "I'm hoping their consciences are currently in overdrive."

Erm, not so much:

Nicola Bulley: Diver Peter Faulding claims he’s being used as scapegoat after body found in river

The thing is though, I've lived in a couple of places with dangerous waterways and the investigations don't usually end up in a shitshow like this. What was different this time? And I mean, like at the core of what went wrong? Because when a woman of a similar age went missing near a river last winter that I knew about, while on the ground it was clear the investigation was focused in the river, in the public domain the police didn't focus on it and kept pushing other lines of enquiry.

I guess it’s just chance, if an influencer starts hammering their keyboard. Also she was middle class and attractive, living in a pretty village so you knew the Fail would absolutely love that.

Apparently not just papa's influence; Pericles' mother (Moorea) also lumbered us with businessman Octavius Black (or Octavius Orlando Irvine Casati Black to give him his full name).

I think I need to scroll back up to remind myself what some of these posts are about, it feels like I've just wandered into a discussion about character names in Harry Potter
