Israel in coordinated missile attacks on Gaza

Simple really, stop firing rockets and Israel will stop sending bombers.
It's fuck all to do with rockets. It's a political war to destroy Hamas and to boost pre-electoin Kadima poll rating. Israel wants a compliant Araberat in Gaza like the Judenrate of the WW2 ghettoes that will acquiesce to the results of its ethnic cleansing. It hates that it doesn't have that

as long as Israel was not being attacked then the borders were open.

This is a lie. I expect you to prove this link to me.

Additionally, Israel has not ended it's occupation of Gaza as it still control the border and has beseiged Gaza since Israel de-occupied in 2005

Sadly the poor misguided Palestinians went an elected the Middle East version of the Kray Twins and the Richardsons combined and then some.

And what is your judgement on Menachem Begin? He was a right-wing terrorist, a member of fascist paramilitary group Irgun, and later became Prime Minister.

This was Menachem Begin, who believed he could remove the PLO from Lebanon with the precision of 'surgeon's scalpel'. Now we hear this same rhetoric once more, the rhetoric of fascist paramilitary.

I do find it deeply ironic that apologists for zionism always ask "why don't you pay attention to other atrocities around the globe" when it usually seems the only reason why they do so is to deflect attention away from the crimes of the zionist state?

except when israel is being attacked when do they ever talk about these atrocities? when do they ever try and do anything about it?

leaving aside the qhole fact that israel has its fingers in many pies anyway (supplying weapons to the burmese junta etc) how many of these people actually take the trouble to take any form of action over other atrocities in the world? how many active supporters of Israel and zionism - and by that i mean people who take an actively pro-zionsit stance knowing all of the facts, rather than someone who's just ignorant - went on the burma protests? the tibet protests? do they actually give a shit?

by the way, i was interviewed today for the reading chronicle - if it's online soon i'll post the link here.

If you want to understand why Likud and groups aligned to it never want to do deals with the Palestinians unless they're absolutely forced to, and why the present government want to prevent a ceasefire and keep hammering the population of Gaza with air strikes while embargoing food, medicines and so on, then the logic is laid out clearly here by the founder of the neo-fascist tendency in Israeli politics.

and source

Well it's good to see there's at least some sort of logic to it all. :(

I find it really depressing. Israel pretty much has a neo-fascist regime, with clear historical antecedents to actual fascist and terrorist movements, they're routinely committing war crimes, but in the neo-liberal world, they're against socialism, hate muslims and have good PR, so that's groovy by everybody with power.

Simple really, stop firing rockets and Israel will stop sending bombers.

Did you bother to read the thread before posting?

It doesn't look like it, or you'd have noted that even should HAMAS stop launching "rockets" (if they haven't already done so) there are other organisations and individuals launching them, for whose activities the civilian population of Gaza would be made to suffer.
The "rockets" are an excuse for murder. Nothing more, nothing less.

Thats right. Those who complain rightly about the economic conditions of the Gazan fail to recognise that as long as Israel was not being attacked then the borders were open. No matter how many times it is said sadly the Leftists on here will not recognise the truth that the ultimate cause of the Palestinians current misery is Hamas.

Sadly the poor misguided Palestinians went an elected the Middle East version of the Kray Twins and the Richardsons combined and then some.

What a load of tabloidesque nonsense. I'm only amazed that you haven't compared the Palestinians to the Nazis or, as BiBi did, claimed that they are "barbarians".

How many Israeli dead to Palestinian dead? You do the maths, chum.

Thats right. Those who complain rightly about the economic conditions of the Gazan fail to recognise that as long as Israel was not being attacked then the borders were open.
Wrong, so you're either stupid or a liar.
Even during the "cease-fire" Gaza was subject to arbitrary border closures.
No matter how many times it is said sadly the Leftists on here will not recognise the truth that the ultimate cause of the Palestinians current misery is Hamas.
No, the ultimate cause of their current misery is the disproportionate response the state of Israel has deployed.
Sadly the poor misguided Palestinians went an elected the Middle East version of the Kray Twins and the Richardsons combined and then some.
If they'd elected the equivalent of Mother Theresa you'd find something to carp about if they didn't do exactly what the state of Israel commanded them.
You're an apologist, and you'll make excuses for the state of Israel however low and mean their tactics are, however vile and horrifying the results of those tactics are. I pity you.

True.

What is truly nauseating is that he knows and I know that his volte face on this issue isn't due to his being convinced of the ideological arguments with reference to the actions of the state of Israel. He changed his views to make them fit more closely with those of his partner, for whom he "converted" to Judaism.
So, his "apostasy" wasn't even motivated by concern or conviction, but by selfish motives.

Israel gears up for more murder.

Any ground operation is expected to lead to a surge in the number of civilian Palestinian casualties.

Israel's three major ground offensives into Gaza since 2005 – operations Summer Rains, Autumn Clouds, Hot Winter and Cast Lead – have all been targeted against militants but nevertheless caused hundreds of civilian deaths.

Israel has massed several brigades of infantry and Merkava main battle tanks on the perimeter fence around Gaza and has called up thousands of reservists to swell the number of combat soldiers available.

You say that as if collective punishment were a valid response.

according to livni, no humanitarian aid is going to be let through because there is no humanitarian crisis in gaza.

and in other news, the burmese people's desire is to oppose destructionists holding negative views and jeopardising security of the state and progress of the nation. The destructionists will be crushed

Froggie, you might as well face it. They were all obviously active members of HAMAS, even the little children and the elderly, because they live in the same Bantustan as their legally-elected government. They deserved to die for being terrorist scum. They brought it on themselves, and anyone who doesn't acknowledge such an obvious fact as their collective guilt and the need for such guilt to be punished is also terrorist scum and deserves to die too!

Wow, how right you are. You've given me a whole different perspective on these matters. Here was I, naively living my life in the misguided belief that Israel had committed human rights violations on a massive scale against defenceless people. Imagine my relief to discover that they weren't human rights violations at all, but a legitimate strike against terrorists who want to drive Israel into the sea. Thanks for opening my eyes :D

One that's missing from the knobfest list: Nizar Rayyan

Hamas leader killed in air strike

A senior Hamas leader has been killed by an Israeli air strike on his home in the Gaza Strip, Hamas officials say.

Nizar Rayyan, the most senior Hamas figure to be killed since 2004, had urged suicide attacks against Israel.

News of the strike came on the sixth day of Israeli strikes on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian medical sources say 402 people have been killed. Israel says it is trying to prevent militants from firing rockets into southern Israel.
Mr Rayyan is the most senior Hamas leader to be killed since the death of Abdel Aziz al-Rantissi in April 2004.

"Knobfest list"?

I suppose you could have treated us to one of your rants about "Islamo-fascists" or "Islamotrots", which would have been just as despicable.

You, Sir, are a miserable specimen of humanity.

a phone in on world-have-your-say said that this man's family was with him, and not spared, and that the attack took place by un-manned drone with missiles......WOW.

Unsurprising. After the debacle the IDF suffered in southern Lebanon against Hezbollah, they're unlikely to make a ground assault until they're certain that they've minimised the possibility of armed resistance. They'll keep bombing and using drones, and only send in the infantry once they're sure that there won't be too many politically-inconvenient military casualties on their side.

I have sent this email to the Movement for Reform Judaism via a form on their website:

As a Reform Jew I am appalled and shocked at the Israeli air strikes and bombing of the Gaza strip. I searched on your website for a statement about this and could not find one.

Israel is acting against all Jewish and civilised values. There can be no justification for a state to besiege 1.5 million people in a tiny area, seal the borders, and allow almost no humanitarian aid in, and then to routinely break a ceasefire by bombing and shelling targets within that area. Many of the people who live in the Gaza strip have lost or been chased from their homes many times.

While it is no doubt terrifying for residents of Sderot and other towns near the border with Gaza to endure rocket fire, there is no comparison between this and what the government of the state of Israel is inflicting upon the people of Gaza, over half of whom are children.

It is appalling that the Movement for Reform Judaism avoids speaking critically about the issue, and that many of its synagogues continue to invite diplomats of the state to speak. I know many people who have been driven away from organised Judaism due to this issue and what they consider to be double standards and hypocrisy concerning the state of Israel, when Judaism is a religion committed to human rights. Please reconsider your stance.

Regards,

(froggy)
