Adjuvanted quadrivalent flu vaccine done this morning. The GP surgery (serving several villages) did a clinic at our village hall this morning, from 10.00 to 11.00. I was 33rd on the list when I put my name down at the shop on Monday morning. Apparently at 10.05 there were more than 50 people waiting (on seats). I parked my car at 10.25 and was back in it to drive home at 10.30, nobody else waiting!

Very slightly tender at the injection site but certainly not sore or achy, and I don’t feel as tired as I have in previous years.

My neighbours, in their late 70s, cancelled their slots as they both have Covid, despite having their jabs two or three weeks ago. She’s had it twice before, in 2020 and 2021, it’s his first time and his cough sounds awful, he’s having a rough ride.

Since we used to pay attention to this sort of data in the early pandemic years, but dont think about it so much these days, I thought it might be interesting to put the latest data here, though I wont be tracking it every week going forwards.

These charts come from the weekly flu and covid surveillance report at National flu and COVID-19 surveillance report: 24 October (week 43)

Had flu and covid jabs a week ago, one in each arm. Both arms a bit sore for a few days, but no other ill effects.

Very glad of them, especially as loads of people at work have been particularly ill with something or another.

Anyone who is about to have their Covid booster, remember to ask for it in the arm you do not sleep on.

By 11:06 on Monday 28th Oct I should have had my winter 24/5 covid booster. I hope !
There are some nasty bugs about, already, this winter.
I thought I saw a suggestion that there may be a norovirus vax available, soon, if not already.
I'm staying out of crowded areas as much as possible.

I'd be interested in the school kids flu vaccination figures.
I think uptake is low as parents have to opt in consent wise and they've been out twice to my daughters school (effectively giving a second chance).

Have now had both flu & covid jags.
Was OK after the flu one, as normal.
However, I'm having minor / annoying affects from the spikevax.
Feels worse than previous ones. [running a bit warm and a bit achey, especially the arm and generally in joints].

The team doing the covid jags were saying that the take up seemed to be quite high.

There was some news coverage recently about a trial of a norovirus vaccine so hopefully that will work and be available in the future.
They offered me a chance to volunteer, but it seems I need 6 checkups over 2 years so I'm not eligible...
I'm also at pretty well zero risk of exposure due to my lifestyle...

Just had my Moderna booster this morning. The jabber wasn’t quite sure why I’d been sent an appointment letter (I’m only 64 with none of the exceptional circumstances on their checklist), but just shrugged and gave it to me anyway.

Maybe it depends when your birthday is.
I think I almost qualify for a shingles jab.
Sadly next year I qualify for everything :p
